I'm back. Up two pounds. Not blaming surgery week or anything else for that matter. I need to be accountable for what I eat and need to have clear meal planning and food prep tactics in place. I usually do... But sometimes I really just don't care.
I like to eat more intuitively and not plan, plan, plan!
My appetite fluctuates wildly. Some days I barely eat, other days...I do all right.
I think catering to the seniors I care for messes with me. They eat and snack constantly, and then after cleaning up their messes I lose my appetite. Then later in the evening after they are settled in, I EAT! Its no ones fault but my own.
Like Dory says in Finding Nemo...."Just keep swimming...just keep swimming..."
We keep trying...we keep trying!
Have a great day everyone!

Been AWOL for a few days...After the surgery, I added some carbs, namely oatmeal to help keep things moving...Anesthesia has a way of backing things up... haven't used pain pills, as they can have the same effect. Anyway, The more carbs I eat, THE HUNGRIER I FEEL! And these are healthy carbs!!!!! I am kinda confused and feel kinda crappy. Hubby ate more carbs than usual and he said he feels the same way. We splurged on a big bowl of hot, buttered popcorn last night and WE ARE DONE! Back to our meat, eggs, some cheese, almond milk, fish, veggies and healthy fat routine.
Has anyone else experienced this? I know I was looking for comfort, but all I got was hunger and disappointment.
Moving on...Its a new week and a new challenge begins and I will be accountable for my actions. Have a great day everyone!

Surgery went well, I feel really good. I need to be active, but no heavy lifting for 5 days...so wheelchair pushing and ramps will be VERBOTEN until Monday. When I awoke in recovery, it seemed that only ONE MINUTE had passed! I felt pretty good, a wee bit emotional, and I guess that can be expected.
When offered a snack, I opted for Banana bread and hot coffee! The hospital makes excellent banana bread and supplies the surgi-center with it, fresh! Every morning!
I am eating a bit more carbs than I have been, but I am ready. I have reached a point where all I want is healthy carbs anyway. Its not like I want cake or chips. I want whole food. I am a firm believer in MODERATION not DEPRIVATION, this coming from a person who had difficulty relating to food in a healthy manner. This is a journey of discovery as to what works for our bodies, minds, souls and appetites. GOOD LUCK to all of us discovering what works and does not work for us!
Keep the faith! Have an incredible Wednesday!

I ate oatmeal today. with brown sugar and browned butter. it was PHENOMENAL! Had a days worth of carbs in one meal! Oh well, moving on...
I have a scheduled surgery for tomorrow and got all people and things in place, covered work shifts and everything is set. What does the Surgi-center tell me this morning???? I need an EKG!!!! Hello, you are telling me this now???? Thank God I was able to dump my shift and make the appointment otherwise I would have to reschedule EVERYTHING all over again! OMG! I know its not the end of the world, but I have two elderly folks in my full time care and it just wigged me out for awhile.
I just don't need the added stress...WAH!
I will have a good day! Everyone else, too!
