It's Exercise!
Too many of us, young or old, don't get enough exercise. According to federal statistics, less than a third of U.S. adults get regular exercise and 40 percent don't exercise at all. That's why the new U.S. dietary guidelines place a greater emphasis on exercise. The guidelines recommend a minimum of 30 to 60 minutes of daily moderate exercise, like brisk walking or bicycling. But if you really want to lose weight, you are urged to engage in rigorous exercise for 60 to 90 minutes a day. But, of course, the Exercise! ingredient is vitally important to maintaining your weight loss. In one study, 81 percent of the people who lost 30 pounds or more and kept it off for more than a year said they exercised more often and more intensely than they had during previous efforts to lose weight.
