Starting back on a reasonable lifestyle change diet, following the South Beach Diet idea of leaner protein, low fat dairy, high glycemic carbs, and healthy whole grains. Also started walking again. Goal is to walk for at least 30 minutes most days of the week, then work in weight training twice a week to build a little muscle. My goal weight is 160. I have 29 pounds to lose.

I followed. The South Beach Diet almost exactly to the phase one sample menus. I continued to eat mostly items on the phase one list and added a few from the phase two list. I am diabetic, so I test my blood sugar frequently before and after eating new additions to my diet. I have been able to keep my blood sugar levels under 140 with diet and exercise, and taking Janumet medication twice a day. I lost about eight pounds on the phase one diet the first two weeks. I have continued to be careful of what I eat, and only occasionally indulge in pizza and Mexican food from restaurants. I continue to lose weight, but more slowly, about a pound a week.

Started back to the gym to do water aerobics classes three times a week. Got there for the 8 am class and felt so good afterwards.

Things to Think about on Your Road to Weight Loss Success:
1. The only thing between you and your goal is Y-O-U!
2. Practice makes perfect; soon enough healthy habits will be second nature.
3. Food is simply FOOD; not friend, not foe...just food.
4. Exercise is not your enemy. Fear of it is.
5. 'Til death do you part-there's no quick fix for your weight, you have to live it for life.
6. You didn't put this weight on overnight; don't expect it to come off overnight.
7. Make the changes within yourself to be comfortable in your own body!
8. Never, Never, Never Quit!
