So after a series of failed atempts to be healthy. Here I am.

An old friend recommended this website to me, and the fact that it has an Android app was kind of a plus. My phone is an extension of my arm, therefore I have a higher sucess rate with things that involve it. Calender apointments, email, purchasing movie tickets before they sell out. You get it.

Well about me. Relevant Stats are: I am a 6'2" 272 lb female. I am trying to remove myself from the 'obese' category that my Wii Fit likes to put me in. [i]SIDE NOTE: If there is a support group somewhere on here for people who have an emotional breakdown everytime their Wii Avatar blows up like the Hindenburg, I would like to be president of that group.[i] For real though, I want to go to Universal and ride ALL the Harry Potter World rides, and some of them have a 200 lb weight restriction. I know, childish, but this is what gets me motivated.

As far as my history with weight goes. When I was younger, I was skinny. I'm not talking about slim. I had nicknames such as Gangles and Tree. I was a measly 162 lbs and 6'2. If you look at your handy dandy obesity charts, that falls into the category of under weight. I played basketball year round, sometimes on two teams at once. I never thought of this as a wieght loss or maintaining tool, just as an activity that I enjoyed and an opportunity to hang out with friends.

After high school, I was expected to play for college. I was pushed through enrollment at a Division III school under the assumption that I would be joining the team. Fate intervened, and at a reqular visit with the doctor for some knee problems that I had been experiencing for a few years, that was not going to happen. The doctor told me that due to the condition of my knees, from various problems like growing too fast, and continual abuse from sports, that it was not recommended that I play competitively. If I chose to do so, I would most likely have to undergo major knee surgery at about 30. This was not an ideal answer for me. I informed the coach that I would not be playing and decided that intramurals were in my future.

One problem... the Women's Basketball Coach was also the head of the Intramural Department, and I was being shunned. So no more sports for me. It still had not sunk in that this was going to cause a major shift in my body's metablolism. As a freshman with no car, I was still unknowingly participating in daily exercise simply by walking to class and back.

It wasn't until after I had joined a sorority and discovered my hidden love of beer that I began to feel the effects of my more sedentary lifestyle.

I have gained the weight that I am carrying around gradually since about 2003. It's time for a change.

More on marriage and weight as they relate to one another at a later time.
