So...what's with medical professionals? You've got your HAES people saying doctors are horribly fat phobic and only talk about your weight. But my primary basically only cares about my cholesterol, but not enough to like give me any info packets on diet or anything, just a quick and vague "go on a low fat, low cholesterol diet," and please take these statins.
I mentioned, in passing (because the visit was unrelated to my weight or cholesterol), that I'd gotten new sneakers and I was going on 20 minute walks, but it wasn't until I looked at my online chart's post visit workup that I saw: recommended, 30 minutes of exercise 5 times a week.
So...why wouldn't she have mentioned that to me? In person. When she had my full attention. At ANY of my visits. It's probably really good advice for me, who sits too much, but I found it on accident! Did she think I wouldn't follow it or even consider it, so she didn't even try? Has she given up on the idea of me ever losing weight/getting more fit? Cause she KNOWS I've lost over 20 pounds and basically kept it off (30 pounds at this point.) Or does she literally only care about my bloodwork values? But not enough to actually encourage me to do things, outside of pharmaceuticals and vague diet advice, to address them?
Or was she toeing the line, pleased that I said I was taking 20 minutes walks and didn't want to discourage me by saying I needed to do more? Or is she more hands off because she knows I'm capable of losing weight? Bah, whatever.
Obviously no one has answers, but has anyone else experienced stuff like this?
