Started training yesterday for a 5k. Walking right now...don't want to damage myself right off the bat. Wasn't really even thinking about a 5k when I headed out...just wanted to get the hell out of the house. Mapped my route on Google Maps when I got home and found that I had walked almost exactly 3 miles...what are the odds of THAT happening? I didn't bust my ass doing it...took me 55 minutes (and 5 chapters of Tim Curry reading "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" to me), but it was a great way to tour the new neighbourhood. Goal is to be down to 40 minutes by this time next week. Reward? Another pair of workout pants (washing the same clothes every bloody day is going to get old quick).
Life is good.

Ugh...my body HURTS today. The last thing I want to do right now are crunches and go for a walk...but then again, I guess that's why they call it a challenge. I think my reward for doing it (besides knowing that I've managed to hold myself accountable) will be a reasonably bowl of that ice cream that's been in my freezer since before my husband deployed. I haven't had any in over three weeks...and I've only got four days left to indulge. Therefore...I think me, my ice cream, and my DVR will make three tonight.

Did my first 100 crunches today! Followed that up with two pints of water (one room temp for easy hydration absorption and one teeth rattling cold to burn some more calories)...then I let myself have my coffee. Small rewards, right?
Did some super yoga, got the muscles awake for the day...feel great.
I'm starting a wicked detox today to kill a bacterial infection I have that shows up in my scalp (talk about annoying and obnoxious), so I treated my skin to an intense sea salt and olive oil scrub, my scalp to a green tea and peppermint soak, and now that I'm smooth, shiny, and minty fresh, it's time for a good lunch so I can start the vitamins. Then it's off to town to run errands, pay bills, and pick up some CD audio books at the library so I can come home and wander around the block a few times. I'm feeling good today.
Matt called this morning. We emailed each other simultaneously last night, and he's yet to read the latest installment. He's an awesome cheering squad, for sure.
It rained hard yesterday, and today, it's a good, crisp autumn day. I think summer has finally blown from the desert. No more marinating...time to heat up and burn it off.

You know...I started out the day eating fine. And then around dinner, it all went to hell in a flaming curry handbasket. At least I've burned more than I've eaten...and I've still to raid the ice cream.
