I took a step in the right direction yesterday. I'd recently bought a box of energy bars, with "All Natural Ingredients", and supposedly very nutritious, that also happened to be very high in carbs. Rather than throwing them away, knowing that there was no way I was going to eat them up, I took them in to church, last night, so that those people serving with me could consume them; as an alternative to the candy which we always have lying around. It worked. I didn't have the guilt of throwing them away, nor that of eating up a bunch of high carb bars, that would be counter productive to preparing for a low carb way of eating. I'm putting that action in the win column. One day at a time, one step at a time. :-)

I haven't been on track since last July. I had an appointment to see my Doctor, today, and after hopping on the scale, as they normally have you do, I felt like a kid walking into the principal's office. Knowing that I know what needs to be done, she didn't come down on me as hard as I thought she would. It was one of those every six month follow-up type of appointments, so all is well, except for my weight gain. As said, I know what needs to be done, and hope to give her a pleasant surprise when I see her again six months from now. After a few preliminaries, to get the right foods in the house, as can be said; it's on like donkey kong.

I promised a friend I would return to fatsecret, after being gone for such a long time, this month. Well, here I am, and though it won't be easy to get back on track, it won't be impossible either. Victory is inevitable!

I haven't been on track with my eating since the beginning of June, leading up to my birthday, and it's kind of cascaded from there. It's been a month of celebrating birthdays, about 15 or so people in my family having a June birthday, a church convention, and of course an Independence Day barbecue. But with the 4th of July out of the way I'll be getting back on plan as of this Monday. Some might say, why wait? But, I have a church picnic coming up tomorrow, and I know Monday will be a more realistic starting point. It hasn't been a complete failure, as I've stayed on the fringes of my low carb lifestyle, and made a conscious effort to not stray too far away with the cakes and other sweets. I hope everyone else has been doing much better than I have.

This has been a week of various kinds of surf and turf. I've had baby back ribs with a shrimp topped salad, and a rib eye steak with the same; followed by a grilled center cut pork chop with zucchini noodle shrimp pesto, topped with feta cheese. Certainly a tasty week; which will end with a Korean Bulgogi marinated flat iron steak accompanied with kimchee, and sauteed cauliflower rice. I may even pan grill some shrimp which has been marinated in the same Korean sauce. Not a bad way to head into the holiday weekend. :-) Of course ribs are on the horizon for Monday; the best thing being is that, my family's barbecue baste is not only low carb, but also makes the ribs so good, they can stand alone without any sauce.
