I am a single mother of five. I have 4 sons (20, 14, and twins who are almost 4) and a daughter, age 11. I am almost 41 yrs old and currently weighing in at 193lbs... which is an almost 40lb increase since having the twins. I can't even blame them for it! I was about 157 two weeks after they were born.

I have struggled with my weight since having my first child 20 yrs ago, I was age 21. I had never been on a diet until then. I never knew it was so hard! I first did Atkins back in 1997 and had much success, but it was harder back then than it seems to be now. There was no such thing as Net Carbs, we did just 20 carbs, period. There were no online tools and there was a lot of criticism. And I worked in a restaurant, which made things harder. But I lost about 40lbs and maintained a weight of about 145lbs until I had my 2nd son. I stayed around the 175lb mark after he was born. Then I had my daughter and again, stayed around 175-180, sometimes more, but not more than 200, and on my 5'4" frame, its a lot of weight. When I got pregnant with the twins I was at about 155lbs. I only gained 23lbs with them and was back down to 157 within 2 weeks. I have been gaining ever since. I don't know what is wrong with me. I feel like I'm gaining without changing my diet. I had bloodwork done and everything appears to be normal, so it's just me! I need to come to terms with that. No more excuses.

Not new, but newly back and needing some weight loss buddies!
I'd like some buddies! Im turning 38 on Sunday, single mom of 5, attempting to do Atkins again. Its not the diet thats failing, its me. I find the diet to be one of the easier for me to stick to, so I dont know why Im off again. I have a million excuses.. sick babies, tired, vascular surgery, 100 degree heat and no AC.. and I cringe as I listen to the voice in my head saying them.. I guess I need some real support. Im planning a dinner out on Sunday for my birthday and thats it.. Im back on this thing til I reach my goal!

I messed up again! I'm going to try again!
DDeanna - dont feel bad.. I fell off this week too! I had Zero weight loss in week 2 and couldnt really get past the discouraged feeling I had.. add into that, I had 2 sick babies and vascular surgery on my leg during the same week that I was trying to stay strong and I failed. It was too much. I fell off for 5 days, and I didnt go crazy or anything, but certainly reintroduced carbs, and I gained back the 4lbs I had lost. Back to the drawing board. And my birthday is Sunday so Im thinking about what I wont be able to have if I dont "cheat". Im hoping I can stay strong this time around!

Help! No weight loss during week 2 of Induction
Im not eating any more bars this week to see if that helps. The ones I was eating said they were suitable for Induction and that I could have up to 2/day... but I dont trust that now. I also switched to a homemade heavy whipping cream w/ just a touch of splenda, instead of the reddi whip.

And no, Im not going to quit if I still dont see results this week.. but I cant promise I wont eat a Big Mac, with the bread, before I continue on. haha! I know it takes time.. and Im prepared for that, but seeing a zero is never encouraging, especially when you think you did everything right. The atkins forum gave some additional ideas for tweaking what Im doing so between all of you guys, I think I got some pretty good advice.

I am motivated this time around.. 20th high school reunion coming up and all.. and Ive tried WW and i struggle with that too. (Im apparently impatient!) But I'd rather struggle and eat a steak, bacon and butter than struggle and eat air all day. Smile

Help! No weight loss during week 2 of Induction
And Im seriously perplexed about the vitamin issue. I wish someone had an answer for me on that! I feel like it really has something to do with it. Like if you dont take the correct supplements, you will not be successful!
