Yes, I'm eating weirdly Unfortunately, my digestive system did not take well to travel to Las Vegas. Mostly I ate low-FODMAP, but I have to admit to having eaten several things that were likely to and in fact did make me sick. So now I'm going to have to strip my diet down to mostly very basic things for at least a week. It's a little scary that I have to drive to a meeting 40 miles away tomorrow, and I'm likely to be stuck in traffic for a while, so I might have to break down and take an Immodium tonight to make sure I can make it to and through this meeting. I am so annoyed. But the Grand Canyon was fantastic, so I guess I should stop complaining and appreciate that I had the opportunity to see it. Hope everyone is A-OK.

I was pretty surprised by the scale. I guess I'm doing better than I thought since I was concerned about not being able to get my calorie count down below 1500. So I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and see where I am in two weeks. If I get another little drop, then I'll be satisfied. Slow and steady is just fine with me.

Excuse me while I whine for a minute. I have a pet peeve: It drives me nuts when I go to add a food to my diary for the day and the listing for that food is completely inaccurate. It happened this morning with Wellshire Uncured Corned Beef. I had the package in my hands, so as soon as the calorie count came up for 2oz I knew right away it was incorrect. I went to the full FS listing for the product and found that more than half the values that were entered were incorrect -- by a lot, including the fact that the calories listed for 2 oz were half what they actually are. Now I could understand if the person got mixed up and wanted to enter a half serving so all the values were half what they should have been for 2 oz, but this was not the case. It was kind of random. I updated the entry, but I wish someone would explain to me how people think they are going to lose weight if they cut back on the calorie count in the diary entry???? Whine, whine, whine. This is how you feel the next morning when you've stayed up through a painful 18 innings of baseball and the Cubs still manage to lose by one run.

Have held steady through several months of not really rigidly adhering to the plan...but it's been a great test of whether I can hold my own without journaling and keeping a food diary. And I did it -- 157.6 in early March... 157.2 today. I'm really proud of that. Yeah, I know I want to lose at least another 20 pounds, but at least this experience gave me a little more confidence that I can maintain without quite as much structure. Also, I know I've been eating somewhat more than before, but still being good about the foods I choose, and the fact that I held steady with more calories... that's pretty good. So onward and upward... well downward hopefully.

I know. I've been kind of off-the-grid the past few weeks, and I'm not sure exactly why. I think it was just feeling overwhelmed by a lot of things going on right now -- politics, work, some personal stuff. And maybe I just needed a vacation from having such a rigid routine. But it's been really interesting because although I am clearly eating more total calories, I'm finding that -- maybe because of being so conscious of the IBS impact of eating badly -- I am sticking with the food plan pretty well. I'm not doing anything crazy, but definitely eating more total calories. This coming week, I'm going to try to trim down the calories a bit. I don't want to be gaining a bunch of weight, and I feel pretty good. I guess it's just an odd little "intermission".
