I've been on a diet since 1976
I started dieting in the '70's and did it all. I finally know what works. It's a lot easier now since nutritional information is much easier to get. I just had a calorie counter book. A little over a year ago I was very sick and was put on life support. In three weeks I lost 25 pounds of muscle and went from 143 to 118. The fat was still there though. I'm trying to find out what my new normal weight is now since my muscle is gone. I've never been here before. I am in a nursing facility, have depression, no appetite and no choice as to what food is served. I try to concentrate on protein and a vegetable if I get one. I leave the complex carbs (potato, bread, starch) as they aren't necessary. I was 97 pounds a couple weeks ago but now 99. At 62 years old, I've been getting a cup of ice cream a few days a week for calcium. I used to read Muscle and Fitness magazine for nutrition information. I tried various diets along the way. The thing anyone trying to lose weight needs to know is this; This is forever. You can't eat like you did as a child. You're an adult now and have to make a choice to be fat or trim. Don't waste calories on what you drink. It's only food.
