Hi All,

I started Sonoma today thanks to the 10 lbs I gained when I went back to school for my Masters and then the additional 20 lbs I gained when I quit smoking six months ago. I dont doubt I have a challenge ahead of me but in the long run I dont have any regrets since it feels so great being a non-smoker (finishing school felt pretty good too). The fact that my clothes no longer fit - well that part doesnt feel so good but hopefully with this diet and some serious exercise I can undo all the damage Ive done.

Starting Sonoma Diet on Monday
Hi Jessie,

Congrats on quitting smoking! I quit six months ago and havent had a moment of regret! I also gave up coffee a few weeks ago and that was harder than the smoking. SmileWhat can I say - Im Cuban and we live for coffee! Very Happy

Best of luck with the diet, so far I am loving all the food choices and recipie's. If you havent picked up the cookbook yet you may want to take a look at it. It has some great suggestions for all the waves and really provides you with some additional variety.

Anyone have good snack ideas?

The roasted chickpeas from the original SBD cookbook are really good & easy to make. They turn out nice & crunchy too & I put a little garlic powder or cayenne pepper for added flavor.

Thanks for the reminder about the chickpeas. I completely forgot about them until you mentioned it. Roasting up a batch of them now. I cant wait to try them with the garlic powder!

Why is it I feel like I am doing this correct and havent seen the scales go down?
Your clothes fit better but your not seeing a difference on the scale? If thats the case you may actually be replacing the fat with muscle which is a GREAT thing to do. Not only does muscle weigh more - it burns more which means it will start to speed up your metabolism. While most people only track weight it is always a good idea to also track your measurements. Watching inches melt away can be an even better motivator. Ive actually had times where I weighed 10 - 20lbs over my average but was wearing a smaller size because of muscle mass. Unfortunately this isnt one of those times but Im working on it. Very Happy

I found a great collection of recipes!
Did someone say choclate cheescake? Very Happy I LOVE to cook and Im a cookbook junkie which makes it hard to follow the diet. Im always finding a new book with something that looks fabulous but doesnt even come close to whats allowed on SBD. I believe I am going to have to place an order for these so I can get back to cooking. Thanks for the recommendation.
