~ * Rainy days and Mondays always get me down * ~
it's an old Carpenter's song that blares in my brain everytime it rains!!
I know that we need the rain but holy crap...I don't need the pain that comes with it!! I understand the weather's effect on arthritus and migraines but my body literally swells when it rains....I am not a plant!!!
All you scientific minds out there - you all just shush! LoL

So after a bit of research, here's what I found...
When there’s a rainstorm, atmospheric pressure drops. O.K. O.K. yes I know about this barometric pressure drop from suffering with migraines, blah, blah, blah - continue....as soon as your body detects this change, it makes your soft tissues swell up even scar tissues may also expand and contract.....say wuuut???!!
Now add all of that soft tissue swelling to the lungs and COPD is affected causing laboured breathing and increased coughing, which can result in extreme fatigue.

So, here I was berating myself for over exerting my physical limitations when in fact this old body is highly attuned to the barometric pressure - I am a meteorologist - and - I am more accurate than the Weather Network!! LoL

~ * Listen to your body - it's trying to tell you something! * ~

I think my scale is broken!!! 3 days of barely moving, my weight should be way up there! I am very thankful that it isn't, but, as they say, proof is in the pudding that; sometimes our body truly needs a break!

I have been pushing my physical limitations, working in my gardens and yard, these past few weeks - to the point of not only physical but mental exhaustion and I do NOT recommend this but for me it worked. I used, abused and damaged long inactive muscles and believe me - it hurt and my body revolted!!

I listened to my body, I rested and gave it what it craved - in moderation of course, I ate chips and cookies, I even drank pop but I did keep it all within my daily, self-imposed, allotted caloric intake. I needed the sodium to restore what I lost through excessive sweating and I needed the carbs plus protein to help repair my damaged muscles

Now that I am rested, it's time to use and strengthen those damaged muscles so that they continue to do their job and help me burn some fat!!
