I hate gaining weight no matter what the circumstances. I knew this week and some was going to be challenging. I was in Edmonton for 4 days and have been in town at my father in laws for 4 more days. Eating has been somewhat erratic.

I have been having to do a lot of my 'best guess' on counting calories. I do try to allot for the tendency to think (or hope?) it is less than it is. Generally what that turned out as is around 60 calories more per day in the last week. Maybe it was more? Perhaps. The gain of 2.4 is substantial.

In the foreseeable future- I am packing up my father in law's and it is looking promising that the packing should be complete as of Monday or Tuesday. Then I will call the online auction company to come pick up what is left. There was a flurry of a couple of families purchasing a bunch even as I was packing! All good, I likely got more than I will at auction! This will take off a lot of town time. The Women's Shelter is looking like it will be settling back to normal. Another one that was bringing me to town a lot. I would like to get back to 'normal' since I will be travelling with the family for the first two weeks of May. We are going to Portugal.

I had a special experience this past week. My husband was very much into the Blues. He was a part of a local music society that is responsible for bringing live music into our community. He encouraged a musician to put a band together and come play. This band that was expected to be a 'one-off' celebrated 20 years last weekend! I was invited to come since my husband and I had been instrumental in getting the band started and also helped them financially with their first two albums. They played to two sold out shows in downtown Edmonton. The crowd was on fire both nights and the band really gave us a fantastic show both nights. This band will be playing at my 65th birthday celebration on July 5. So incredibly cool!!

So many good things going on in your busy life right now Carol. Enjoy Portugal, I loved it. The story about the band is beautiful, it's amazing when we can see that we have changed some lives for the better.

Thank you Shirfleur! I am so looking forward to Portugal! I have heard wonderful things about it. The other part of the story about the band is that the lead singer and the original harmonica player came to the hospital when Dave was in palliative care. They played for him and our family in his room for around 1-2 hours. It was so uplifting for my husband and our family. They are good caring friends.
