John10251's Journal, 12 October 2017

Well, last night I blew one of my goals for this week. When I got up from the dinner table my eating was under goal. I even had enough eating room to have a protein drink for a snack after dinner. Then around midnight the munches kicked in big time. I consumed almost a dozen fig bars and if that wasn't bad enough I got o jar of peanut butter and ate some right out the jar. I finally got back in control after I washed it all down with a half a glass of milk.

I did go to the gym yesterday and got in a good upper body workout and worked some soreness out my legs. I also went for an evening walk/run to get my steps in for the day. It was hot and humid. I sweated heavily. I dreaded getting on the scale this morning even after a huge elimination. To my surprise I lost weight. Go figure? I will try to control my eating today...

This guilt should control your eating today. You owned it and now you will control it. Been there done that.

So, you may need the extra calories to support your workouts. I know it seems contradictory but you have been pretty strict for a long time. the need to eat may be your body's signal you need more carbs to provide the fuel. It does not work for me...but I am older and female.

A binge is okay once and a while as long as you're sticking with your plan.

The "sweated heavily" and "protein drink... after dinner" makes me wonder if insufficient hydration may have played a role. But a good workout beforehand helps keep fig bars and peanut butter going to help the working cells, so that's good. Good luck today!

Fig bars and Peanut butter are not bad after a workout! I think you'll be fine! :)

You just proved to many of us that we all do the same things eating at night. You're a tough guy and will be back to your normal in no time. Hope you enjoyed your treat.

Been there-- try instead a glass of water when you wake up in the night and go back to sleep. Your body really doesn't need extra food in the middle of the night.

Thanks guys, I have never doubted that I'm a lot like everybody else. This isn't my first episode of late night horror in the kitchen and I doubt that it will be my last. I'm not new to maintenance but I can tell everyone that it's still a challenge. That's why I'm still trying to win it just like everyone else...
