I had a car accident last night. A young lady ran into the back of me. I didn't get hurt but I think my van might be totaled because of it's age. I'm going to miss that old van.

Pleased to know you weren't injured. Van can be replaced.

So glad you were not hurt. My brother purchased his totaled car back and repaired it because of sentimental value. Something to think about.

Just because they _Say_ it is totaled does not mean you cannot drive it! That is crazy consumerist brainwashing. I've driven several cars and trucks that were officially totalled out due to age, that were just fine, except for dents, which we only bothered to have pulled out on one, for literally decades. You just keep in mind that when they finally do die, you will be selling them to someone with a salvage license, basically at scrap weight price. Don't let them hoodwink you into car pmt, much higher insurance on a newer vehicle if yours is fine. Your current insurance rate may even go down, as you have no need for comprehensive/wont qualify anyway for replacement value coverage if totalled. This can be a great, liberating thing!

Unless you sell to someone who wants parts. Did that on one vehicle, after driving it for several years after it was "totaled" and made another $1100, on top of the "cash value" that the insurance paid. Even with the deductable, we were way ahead.
