Question for everyone with HBP... If your doc has been weaning you off those meds, how are they doing it? I walk my butt off (yes, figuratively and literally speaking), drink caffeine and the highest BP I got recently has been 110/65. I'm on a water pill and an ARB (Angiotensin-II Receptor Blocker).

My last check up which was over a week ago, finally- finally after 1 year of weight gone, took me off of HBP meds, it has been a very slowwwwww progress to get off of meds. It was always, we will wait and see, I think to see if I could keep weight down !!. BP 96/62 , I also have hit the gym and exercise more , so that could have helped ..I'm have also been off ALL of Diabetic meds since February.. Good Luck !!!

Yes, my blood pressure meds are the last pills that have been prescribed to me, that I am still on. I hear you, regarding the diabetes medicine, as I (too) have been off those for a few months, now.

I was on Hydroclorithiazide (bad spelling) Lisinopril and propranolol. I stopped the Hydro myself cause I started drinking ACV in the morning and it does the same thing I read. I was weened off the propranolol by cutting it in half for two weeks then taking half every other day for two weeks then stopping no problem. Just started the same for the Lisinopril. Keto diet has normalized blood sugar and high blood pressure.

Are you having any dizziness? If so, talk to your doctor. I also tracked my blood pressure and took a log of the readings over the course of a month to my "new" internist. She immediately told me to stop taking the meds. I actually only took them for several weeks. Knew I didn't have a problem....just white coat syndrome. Make sure your doctor's assistant uses a manual BP device. The electronic ones are notoriously inaccurate! Although, if there is some other related condition, you may need some type of meds for life. CT Scan, EKG, etc. may pinpoint a problem.

I've been able to talk to my doc via the internet, I report my BP and I'm now quartering my pills, hopefully soon I'll be off of them. I have an arm cuff that I use at home.

I do remember telling my doc that I thought it was time to back off on my meds.

@Dhatura - I hear ya' 'bout manual BP readings and the machine, that's been my experience as well. @Erquiaga - no, no dizziness... just wondering why it wasn't higher after 'moderate' waling for nearly an hour; @mmfamily68 - ain't it great, the way Keto knocks blood sugar WAY down? Awesome to hear this has been your experience, too! @DO N OK - you're a braver soul than I, sir - don't think I'd quit 'em cold turkey!

Was on Hctz and a bp med. cut the bp med after I made the case that even after 1/2-1 hour of moderate exercise my BP was consistently low as well as my pulse, which was just as important I guess. Then the diuretic the next 3 months. Good luck 👍
