deasmiles's Journal, 07 April 2016

I caved last night. I realize I can't have dessert options for "guests" because in a moment of weakness I will eat it. Last night I was restless, we live in a tiny apartment and I don't get a second to myself. For a change the hubster went to bed early. His English is not that great, but he has a job, a decent one. He asks me incessant questions about words, definitions, sentence structure, synonyms etc... from the second I wake up through out the day while at work, via text messages and emails and even in bed. I wanted to zone out last night. I had my dinner of cheese and pumpkin seeds.

I felt fine, I was fussing with a ball of wool that got really entwined and watching a British crime series. Suddenly it was 3:30 am. I wanted something sweet. These Trader Joe bars aren't too bad 9g carb 4g fat but I had 4! And a glass of whole milk. 8oz. I gobbled didnt' savor.

Still, I lost 1 lb and still though, I need to take full responsability for my action. It was bingey behaviour, I can't say anything to him or he feels rejected. I can't rad, I can't think I was hoping to go back to grad school but it's impossible with him around. I'd love to do my yoga video but he is always in the way. Mocking, asking, deriding it's exhausting. Still though no excuse to binge.

88g of carbohydrates is self sabotage and I will give away my beloved lemon bars to someone tonight. Lesson learned.
241.0 lb Lost so far: 4.0 lb.    Still to go: 116.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Yes, I've been good about keeping my carbs close to 25g daily, around 30-35 but last night I caved and consumed all told yesterday a whopping 88g of carbs. Lesson learned. Thanks for the support!

Sounds like he might need to learn to be a bit more self sufficient. Does he know that google is a thing? And him mocking you while you work out is never ok.

Be strong and make him more independent. I, too, married an immigrant. English isn't the problem but sometimes machismo is. As for my diet, my 17 yr old son and my husband started giving me crap about it: telling me that it's a stupid diet (but it works for me) and that I should just exercise more (which I don't consistently have time to do, therefore I have to watch what I shove in my mouth). So I told them both to mind their their own business, that this wasn't up for discussion nor their criticism. I haven't heard a word since, however we are going out for Chinese food to celebrate my niece's birthday and I plan on sticking to my diet no matter what all 10 of them say. It's not about how they feel...It's about how I feel. At 48, I've decided that some things just have to be about me!

Thank you Biker T, I went shopping with him last night and didn't mind as it was walking. But yes he is skinny fat, very thin but no muscle and losing height every year through spine compression. He loves his pasta and is nearly vegan. I also got made fun of for being fat, for this stupid diet all the while helping him 24/7 w/ English and adapting to his new home. I am slowly making him more indepenendant. Thanks agian for the support.

If you find yourself bingeing you may be letting yourself get too hungry. You might want to try planning an evening snack and making sure your calorie deficit isn't too high. Sorry I can't offer any advice on your hubby. Good luck.
