GOING in the wrong direction.

But facing a new beginning.

the weight gain is from not being careful from the last two months.

However, going in the wrong direction physically, but going in the right direction mentally.

I've read the Dr Phil 20/20 diet. My humble opinion, don't buy it, the diet itself is garbage.

But I took away some valuable lessons.

Number '1' is that I've been using food for all types of reason.

I've been using food when I'm tired, bored, for a passing pleasure (read instant gratification), appeasement,. And, what I've learnt and practiced this week is to use food purely for nutrition. Hence, when I'm tired, I need to go to bed, when I'm bored I need to entertain myself, when I'm anxious, I need to move around etc, etc

And the results were very significant in the way I dealt with food this week. I had no food between meals, and no cravings.

I just have to work on portion control and mindful eating. that's the next step. I've realised my portions are big b/c I want to extend the pleasure of the taste of food. It's not necessarily out of hunger.

But to have managed the continual cravings is wonderful...

Use food for nutrition. Who knew? lol

Wow, that's a big change! I think food is for pleasure as well as nutrition, though. One of my problems in the past was that I enjoyed the sensation of a full stomach. Now it just feels uncomfortable when full! But I still do get tempted to nibble or drink alcohol when watching TV sometimes, which I think is a sort of boredom, as my mind is engaged, but my body is sitting there doing nothing. I used to crochet or embroider while watching, but eyes aren't good enough now. So I nibble on harmless things, and drink herbal tea, that seems to do the trick.

Food fills the gap for so many things in our lives.

I was wondering how you were doing, don't think you are not missed ;-) I am eating food for nutrition and for the pleasure of taste. I enjoy a good veggie and fruit salad so everything I eat is delicious to me and not everything is high in calories. There just needs to be a good balance.
