The most common injury of ramping up mileage too quickly with running is shin splints, which can lead to hairline fractures. The classic sign is the shins feel sore at the beginning of the run, then feel better after warming up. The only cure is no running for weeks or months. And then you're susceptible to shin splints in the future. Been there, it sucks.

Hated those things when I had them in high school, the Army, and college. Guess my body was not geared toward running longer distances. Thankfully riding my bike about 22 miles a day does give them to me. Hope it works out for you and the shins get better soon !!
