debrafrederick's Journal, 12 September 2023

Had a bit of a whoosh last night, seemed like I made a trip to the bathroom every hour on the hour, but I was hoping some of the swelling and bloat would start turning loose of me. Except for Sunday when I had two meals and a middle meal snack of almonds, I have reached my goal of no eating or drinking between 7PM and 7AM and my goal of fasting till dinner each day. My appetite for whole foods has improved and my meal planning....first few days I was like....whatever is easiest to cook. I had a huge taco salad last night....minus any tortillas or chips, it was tasty and I enjoyed it. Still targeting Wednesday evening as the starting point of my first post-covid three day fast. I will be doing them in 24 hour increments on my fasting tracker, just in case I have to stop for any reason. I don't want a failed 3 day fast showing in my fasting diary. Moving into it with caution because the first week after covid I had a serious electrolyte imbalance because I was drinking lots of water, not eating and not able to drink my usual electrolyte mix...it would make me throw up, Doc gave me some salt tablets she had in her office and gave me a prescription for potassium to use with the salt tabs for three days to get me rebalanced and told me to drink some body armor with coconut water. That got me through that and when I finally found food I could eat, well my salt intake went through the roof with pizza, canned ravioli etc. I have mixed up a small sample of my electrolyte mix and I can keep it down now, so fingers crossed that everything stays hunky-dory when I go back to full day fasting! Ya'll have a great day!

I hope you approach the fasting cautiously. Maybe I'll join you for a bit of fasting.

Thank Zen! Erika, I am planning to be very cautious, going to be taking my blood pressure frequently and taking any dizziness very seriously. My imbalance right after covid caused my BP to plummet, my pulse rate jumped really high and I got so dizzy I almost passed out. Instead of rushing to the ER I called my Doc and she had me come in. She gave me an IV bag full of electrolytes and I smoothed back out. She's seen it in a lot of Post covid cases. Now that I know what the signs of imbalance feel like, I will be able to identify it quickly and take action.
