debrafrederick's Journal, 11 July 2023

I guess it was a woosh of sorts. Even stopping my water intake at 7 did not rescue me from having to wake up 4 or 5 times during the night to go empty my bladder. 36 hours into the EF and I'm dropping fluids like I was on Lasik's or something. On the plus side, the swelling I noticed is gone and I have that lovely empty feeling in my gut. A couple of waves of hunger around 5 yesterday, but nothing major. It was gone in about 10 minutes. I just sipped my water and observed it, kinda like a mini-meditation. I paid attention to it, felt it ripple through me. Accepting it for what it was, a timed habit. It's not real hunger yet. This EF, I want to feel what real hunger is and instead of keeping myself busy and letting it pass, I want to learn it, become intimate with it. Listening to my body and learning and appreciating the amazing machine that I inhabit is one of my goals this time around. Ya'll have a great day!!

Hmmmm, that's interesting, I usually enter all of my data on the computer but I was poking around in the phone app and I went into the reports tab. They have a tab for nutrition and it shows both your sodium and your potassium intake, cool beans! Why is that report feature not available on the Desktop mode? It would be handy. I see my sodium content in my diary, but not potassium. I did not know coffee had potassium in it, but this report shows 2-12 oz cups of coffee as having 334 mg of potassium.

Nice job, deb!!! Good idea getting to know your hunger and perhaps even making friends with it. 🎵🎶🎤 I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed...🎵🎶 😂 https://youtu.be/mWUamzMQFvI

...and about the peeing during the night... I was so inflamed back in the day that C2B was complaining about peeing all of the time at around 148 lbs & had LONG been on keto. When I started lifting weights at that size, I would have to run to the bathroom after every few sets. One of the guys actually made a comment, "Wow, you must drink ALOT of water??" I just shrugged it off & said yes. They probably thought I was doing coke or something in the bathroom the way I was hitting it hard & running to the bathroom. 🤣

LOLOLOL, I walked into the kitchen and turned on the water to wash my hands after giving my dogs their meds and WHAM! I had to go....NOW! Ran to the bathroom, left the water running in the kitchen sink, so, it's still going on. I had to hop off the bike after 10 minutes and go, that was before coffee. When those fluids cut loose, they REALLY cut loose!

LOL Darc, glad we can provide some entertainment 😆 I know a lot of what we post is TMI, but where else can you share these personal moments and actually have other people "get it" right? So, I have been meditating for a little bit and in the beginning I was fighting to still my mind, well I did not realize that fighting it was the wrong way to do it, when I finally relaxed and just let the thoughts flow while I focused on breathing, eventually they slowed down. Now I can sit quietly and focus on a body part and I can relax each muscle in it and I am learning it. So I want to do the same with my hunger. Getting to know it may make it into a tool that I can use later on in my journey. The constant ebb and flow of the energy in our body is a marvel of engineering that should be explored and appreciated for the beautiful miracle that it is.

I've also come to the realization that in order to lose weight, I need to know and welcome hunger, and not fear it or run to eat in panic. Make friends with healthy hunger.
