NowIunderstand's Journal, 06 September 2014

There's no way that I ate this week to cause a 2 lbs gain.

It's either : I'm really clueless about my food intake or
My metabolism is really arrested or:
A calorie is just not a calorie and some of them cause instant weight gain.

I mean, I don't eat sweets as in treats. I had one bottle of red and a dessert one evening. That's it. I don't have big platefuls of anything, I hardly have dairy, fat, etc. Had a bit of grain (barley) in hamburger.

I've not gone to the gym and not exercised much.

I'm going to religiously track my food intake this week (that type of consistency is so hard for me) But I must get to the bottom of this.

Still feel weak, no energy since Thursday, but coming back up slowly. Feel like I'm 65 years old. My get up and go has gone up and left.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'm going to take it slow.

166.9 lb Lost so far: 12.1 lb.    Still to go: 27.9 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Since you're in perimenopause it's likely your metabolism already slowed down a bit. That's what happens in menopause. Alcohol also slows down your metabolism. I read somewhere that it get's back to normal only after two days. It's not good that you're not exercising since muscles would help you speed up your metabolism. I know that you don't feel like it but just sitting on a bike and riding it slowly could be manageable. You get really strong thigh muscles that way. I hope you feel better soon.

At least I'm not giving up! Thought of it this morning though! thank you Sne. did you see that one of our FS fallen warriors has made a comeback as mysteriously as when she left? what was that about? Did she only want to flush her buddies? Who knows what people think? I'm always surprised. Too bad, I really like her and do wish her well.

I have sent you a private message about it this morning as soon as I saw her comments on several journal posts of my buddies. If you never give up you can never fail. As slow as the weight loss is, if you keep at it one day you will reach your goal. For me giving up is not an option since I know myself. I would gain all the weight back and then some. Just remind yourself that you are getting thinner and healthier even when the scale is not cooperating. With me, 6 days past and no loss yet. Some weeks it's harder to shed the fat.

Personally I think it's the fat fairy that comes around at night and sprinkles us with those mysterious lbs.

some people say protein helps their energy. i'm finding walking is helping my energy. i don't like to exercise. it is a constant battle with me. i don't like to walk either. but i put on my headphones and head out there. i have to constantly tell myself to keep going, but when i'm done i feel so accomplished. and i definitely have more energy. not at first, but now. i don't know where those mysterious pounds come from. especially if you are tracking everything you eat. i gained 6 pounds last week, and i am just afraid to log it. i'm waiting for it to come down again.

Tracking your food helps so much. When you gain weight, you can look back and see what you ate. Maybe it was salty foods or too many sugars or carbs. Or less fiber. You can do this. Keep going!

@ CR, Love the idea of a Fat Fairy being responsible for the mystery pounds. If I could make friends with the exercise and metabolism increasing fairies then I think the Fat fairy would visit less frequently. Really, I do know exercise is an important factor that is missing in my current regimen. J

When you're more of a nerdy type than an athletic one, it's not easy making the switch. That's probably why it's important to get kids hooked on sports when they are young. It wasn't my case. I was more of a couch potato and intellect was more valued instead of physical activity.

are you saying i'm a nerd? ha! because that would be true. i was actually very good at school and my intellect was valued, but i was in sports too. i never liked the exercise then either. i hated running. but i did it for like 4 hours a day! unbelievable now.
