Operation: flat belly is going pretty well. It is different not being on my official training plan. My knees actually hurt a lot though, so I hit the weights and elliptical again today to give them a little break to heal up. We decided not to do another tri in August as that one is $80 each, or the Chicago one is $160 each. Yikes. But I will definately plan to do one again. I am planning on the 8K race in Sept, which is 5 miles. So I will work my way up to that again. I ran 4 outside last week with no trouble, so that should be just fine.

We will be camping next week which spells big trouble for my weight. I have finally dropped the 3 lbs I gained in CO from 3 weeks ago even though I was super active. Camping brings about a lot of excess food. So I think I will pack my scale this time to give me a reality check. I think that will be helpful so I am not totally mad at myself when coming back home. I will have a hard time but I do plan to have some great workouts too to help balance it.

Well, hope all is well in your world. May your minds and bodies stay strong!!
136.0 lb Lost so far: 1.0 lb.    Still to go: 2.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Wow, that's dedication - taking your scale CAMPING! Maybe you can pack some yummy but healthy food alternatives to whatever usually tempts you, and still have tiny portions of the goodies you like best? I'm sure you'll be fine! I didn't realize triathalons were so expensive! The 5Ks are bad enough! Good luck with your training!

Good idea trying something different (like bringing a scale). Keep trying different things...I'm sure you'll find something that'll work. It's people who expect different results doing the same thing that's worrisome. You're on the right track!

Sorry to hear about your knees but you are doing the best thing by giving them a rest. I had to take two weeks off of running last year when my kness were bothering me but I was right as rain afterward and the break didn't seem to affect my stamina at all. I know how the great outdoors stimulates the appetite so I know you have your challenges ahead of you. But you know yourself best. Try to evaluate when you are most likely to overindulge and try to compensate for it by eating lighter around that time. For me, it's always evenings that hold the greatest danger so I have started eating lighter thoughout the day. It seems to be helping.

om! Are you the camper that has mentioned a banana and chocolate thing you make over the fire?? (was that you) oh if so you are in trouble... taking the scale can help, but it can be a drag. You know how to to be good(but whatever works)! Enjoy camping! I miss camping, we go in the winter here- too hot now, unless we go north!
