The weekend was slightly out of my comfortable nerdy ordinary.
Where should I start? Oh, yes... the beginning. That's a good place.
Friday after work I went with my amigos to see Bruno. Wow. Ummm. Yeah. Not for the faint of heart, but if you can tolerate a d*** (literal, not metaphorical) talking to you then you're good to go. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, you also get to laugh at dumb people. There's always that. Then we went to On The Border where I had a bit of a cheat meal. I hadn't drank any alcohol in a loooong time and figured... why the hell not? Little did I know that was going to turn into a theme for the weekend. I just had one beer, but that was probably the first in six months.
Cut to Saturday morning at 6:00AM. The screech of an alarm clock on a Saturday morning is especially depressing. I roll out of bed and into my running shoes, grab a GU (carbohydrate packs) or two, and go for a fun filled 7 miles. I learned something new. If you don't have enough carbs in your system your body will break down amino acids to fuel itself. When this happens it creates a fun ammonia smell that follows you around. So I ran the last two miles smelling like Mr. Clean. I got home and washed the bleach stink off of me in time to catch a ride with my family to the Dallas World Aquarium (the zoo trip was canned b/c of heat... sissies). It was cool, but again I ate at a restaurant and probably went way over with calories.
I decided to go buy Guitar Hero: World Tour after getting home so I could rock out with fake drums, but as I was assembling the kit I got kidnapped. True story. One of my cousins and an ol' amigo from high school showed up and just said, "We're going out." For the record, I hate "out". At least most peoples' definition of out. I would rather get stabbed than go to a club. Also a true story. Luckily this "out" was not to go to a club, but to go get drunk and watch people get beat up. Basically. We went to a sports bar and watched UFC 100 and played catch up since I haven't really seen anybody in a while (since moving from the boonies). Playing catch up included a dinner of Jack & Coke, bourbon & Sprite, some weird lemon shot, and an Irish Car Bomb. Again, bad diet choices. When they dropped me back off we talked in my driveway a bit and then heard a scream. A car had just passed and I thought someone had been run over (drunk people hang out near the street at night on the weekends). I think I nearly had a heart attack before I realized the guy screaming "WHAT THE F***!" over and over at the top of his lungs was not run over, but that his chihuahua was not so lucky. That sucks, but at least I didn't witness a murder, so that's somewhat positive... I think.
Sunday was the official nerd day. I finished up the next few episodes of True Blood (only 2 left in the season now), rocked out on fake drums, and tried to make up for bad food choices by eating healthy stuff. Oh, and I studied. I have a test tonight. A karate test. Hopefully I don't get kicked in the face too much. Wish me luck.
