Divided By Zero's Journal, 09 July 2009

Back and forth, back and forth, my weight has gone crazy lately. Like watching A-Rod (the other one) get owned by Federer. LOL While most sports bore me to tears, I could watch tennis all day. Weird.

Last week was kind of hectic and I ended up eating at a lot of restaurants. And then of course there was the 4th. My weight has gone from 195 on the 5th to 189 this morning. I'm not sure what to record so I went with what I weighed last time.

I signed up for a 5K on the 18th. I'm still training for the half marathon on August 23rd, but I needed a race to break the tedium of training for so long on my own. Speaking of training, it's going pretty well. I had a good 4 miler Tuesday, another 4 miler this afternoon, and a 7 mile long run coming up Saturday morning. I've been stretching and hydrating like crazy so hopefully I won't injure myself again. At least I got my injury out of the way early in training. The only thing that sucks is that running in the heat slows you down a lot. Your blood is going to your skin to keep you cool and that makes it harder to run. I need to start running in the morning but... ugh... waking up earlier sucks. But if it's that or running in 105 degree weather I guess I have to wake up earlier.

Oh, and I'm going to the zoo with my aunt, nephew, and mom this weekend. I don't think I've been to a zoo in a decade. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping a kung fu panda will be there.

I wanna see a kung fu panda, too. Then, I want to see a unicorn, a chimera, and a prehistoric lizard-creature fond of attacking Japan and answering to the name 呉爾羅. *pout*

I'd go to the zoo a lot more often if Gojira were there. I'd even settle for Godzuki. ;)

The zoo sounds fabulous! I love going and haven't gone in a long time. Look for a giraffe for me! Those are my favourites. :) :) :)

Godzuki is so cute! Ah, the excess of television I watched as a child...

Randomness2) I went to Subway for lunch and got the veggie delight sammich. Now I have a line from the Clay Henry song stuck in my head that Subway came out with years ago to sell sammiches. //Gets his might from his veggie delight, Great tastes each day from his local Subway// It's just looping over and over and over...

What about running in the evenings when it's cooler?

Evenings!?! But that's when all the scary gang bangers are... gang banging! LOL It's hard for me to sleep if I work out late, plus I like to eat after I run (refuel) and I'm still paranoid about eating too soon before bed. I'm already running until about 6:30PM, but it's STILL freaking hot. The heat still radiates from the concrete even after the sun sets. That's why it's cooler at dawn than at dusk.

I don't have a treadmill or a gym membership, so I couldn't use one anyway. Right now I'm just trying to make sure to drink a lot of water (gatorade or similar on runs 5 miles or more) and use a lot of sunblock. I think I'm pretty much stuck with early morning runs if I want it cooler.

well there is freecycle (ask for a freebie) or your boss for a deal at a gym. if you enjoy the outdoors and WILL wake up... MORE POWER TO YOU!!! i just dread how hot its gonna get! its dry heat here... humid there right?

I wanna go to Texas. I saw a waterpark down there that I want to go to. I think had the word bonne in it. Looked exciting! All that talk about the heat made me think about waterparks :)

Yep, I feel ya on the running in the heat. It makes a 4 mile run feel like an 8 mile run-an 8 mile run seem like torture. Opt for the morning run if you can. Try it out on the weekends first to see if you can adapt. Then go from there. Personally, it's nice to feel the morning coolness while running, birds singing & chirping...and the squirrels zipping by you and watching you. Kinda like they're saying "You still can't out-run me punk!"

LOL re lard-asps! Seriously. out loud. Wow, you are doing great with all that running! I love reading REAL runner's journals - it's very motivating!

You must be in excellent physical condition overall to be able to do all of that.
