CharmaineSchmidt's Journal, 03 February 2022

So I have been at this weight loss journey for a long time now, almost 20 years. I am used to negative comments and they are waaaay less than the positive ones. Thankfully my husband supports me, although he thinks I am seriously crazy for logging and weighing every single thing I put in my mouth. And even crazier for taking pics of it🤣. In the last six months I have lost 10 kg's while doing IF, that has become a life style that I now love. I really wasn't expecting to loose it, not at my age and being pre menopausal. However lately I have family members saying I need help, IF is actually an eating disorder and I am too thin already, I don't need to loose anymore weight, and I need to stop thinking of myself as a fat person.
I think for the rest of my life I will definitely think of myself as someone who was seriously overweight and I will probably have to work on it for the rest of my life to maintain my current goal weight, the fact that I love IF and refuse to eat after 1pm does not mean I have an eating disorder, I happen to love my food and take great lengths in preparing my food and making sure it is healthy and tasty, I eat treats almost every day, but in moderation, so I really don't starve myself or deny myself anything.
Sorry fat secret family, just needed somewhere to vent!!!!

Also- to add- I think many people have disordered eating habits the the way around- emotional eating, needing to eat to celebrate everything, a few glasses to much wine at night. Nobody has ‘perfect’ eating habits and I think if you have found something that works for YOU, that is a good thing❤️❤️

I fully understand where you come from as someone who has been doing IF for 2 years. It. Saved my life, I cannot imaging ever going back to constantly stuffing my face like I use to. You are 100% correct it's a lifestyle. Don't worry about what people say I too struggle with family and friends telling me it's unhealthy and I'm starving myself.

Charmaine, your story is so inspiring. Don't let the negative comments get you down. Also wanted to say that I love your food pics, so keep on logging and posting ♥️

I think of you as an inspiration to the rest of us! And we have seen what food you post, its healthy delishes full plates! Not at all starving yourself. Try to let the negative comments roll off your back. Being in control of your weight is way healthier than being heavily overweight, and if it makes you happy then it has nothing to do with anyone else!💗

Hi Charmaine. Thank you for being such an inspiration and for sharing your weight loss journey. I tried IF and it worked well, but I think I was pushing the fasts too long (24 - 36 hrs), because then on non fast days ie the weekends I'd eat everything in sight. May I ask which days and how long you fast for and at what hours of the days, I think I read that you stop eating after 1 pm in the day? (I would fast from 8pm in the evenings but drink lots of coffee to manage my hunger pangs, I think perhaps that wasn't helping)....

Thanks everyone for the lovely supportive comments, that's exactly why I love Fat Secret so much❤️, @Kath, I generally eat breakfast between 7and 8am and then snack quite bit as long as it is in my calorie budget (between 1200 and 1400 cals per day), eat lunch at 12pm and then snack again until 1pm. I do IF 7 days a week. I do drink black unsweetened rooibos, green tea and water all day.

Well done and ignore haters and nay-sayers. The only person who has a right to tell you to slow down is your doctor. I get so annoyed with the iD10Ts who will tell someone who is a healthy (or maybe slightly above) weight "don't lose too much" just to deal with their own personal issues. They are the reason so many of us struggle to lose enough to be truly healthy
