After losing all confidence in my treacherous scale at home, I walked at a brisk pace this morning all the way to a pharmacy that swore on their love for overpriced Disprins, that their scale is accurate.

Bingo! 84 kgs! Which, worryingly, is the same as my scale at home says every second time I get onto the thing. (The other time it says either 83 or 85, depending on its mood.)

But what made my day is that I got my first proper exercise since 01 December last year, and that I apparently only gained 1 kg instead of the three I thought sneaked onto me.

I'll be rewarding myself with a small backpack soon, to go for full-day walking trips through bush and veld. Got to go inspect them puff adders and other beauties of nature. Thanks to Google Maps I can plan my routes to include a river for a quick swim, while it's still summer and before climate change toast all rivers dry. So if you read in the newspapers about a guy swimming with snakes and hippos and crocodiles, that'll be me.
185.2 lb Lost so far: 35.3 lb.    Still to go: 13.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
