Divided By Zero's Journal, 08 May 2009

My scale may or may not be plotting on me, but I'm going to record it anyway. It's a good loss, it's just that I've been lazy since my injury and I don't think I should be losing like that. I know that sounds weird. Bear with me...

Speaking of injuries... I'm not supposed to run for two weeks or so. I want to run tomorrow. We'll just have to wait and see if logic or awesomeness prevails.

I've been thinking about getting one of those fancy-pants edjumacations lately. You know, learnin' and such (special thanks to Starladesiree and Lgatzke for talking about this stuff earlier in the week and getting me thinking again). Mostly because my job sucks. If my job were a person, I would punch it in the throat... HARD!

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah... I've always had an interest for medical type careers but I've never had super-moolah to really fund it. But (and this is a big butt), I've been thinking of entering into a two year surgical technologist program that's fairly close. It would be like watching ER (or Scrubs in my case), only I would get paid for it.

And... Sunday is Mother's Day. Don't forget. Or you'll get a whoopin'. True story.

Yay for you!!!! You owe yourself schooling. I hope you go for it! Keep me posted. Seriously. Stay off the foot. REPEAT: LAY DOWN! No running. If I were standing next to you, I would push you down. Yes, I am kinda a bossy one. You don't want to keep re-injuring it. You know you don't. So give it a rest this weekend! This would be a great weekend to sit down somewhere nice, relax, and research schools and programs. Also: interesting cartoon! Very "Adult Swim" but, as a feminist who someday hopes to be a mom, I do have a give it a thumbs down. :o) sorry! :) take it easy! Happy Friday! ~ Laura

Hey! Those are good marbles!!! LOL Oddly enough, I like school. That sounds weird to most people, but it's kind of my element. I am a supa-nerd. My amigo that bikes centuries (100 mile races) and runs came by and told me not to run. Now it's 2 to 1. No running. phhhhhhtt. He did tell me it would be okay to bike... but I don't have a bike. Looks like it's going to be a lazy weekend.

It doesn't have to be lazy, per-say! I think this is a sign that you need to dig into schooling NOW! Use the weekend to write down things you want to learn, things you want to do, and places you want to go. Dream it and do it! As cheesy as it sounds: I believe in you. 100%

Be careful with all this encouragement stuff. It may actually lead to me running around hospitals with sharp objects. I don't know if y'all can handle that yet. lol

It's slowly eroding my soul. But other than that... it's boring. I'm doing medical filing for a private doctor right now. Scan, attach, scan, attach, scan, attach... I am slowly going (even more) insane.

yeah, same old thing can get boring. on the plus side that 'simple' job may give you the time and energy to focus on schooling. i want to go to school so badly too. i keep saying i'm gonna, but don't. do it now, before it gets more difficult to do so!

Divided By Zero, that's VERY funny..."If my job were a person, I'd punch it in the throat...HARD!". That's HILARIOUS!!! Seriously though, there's nothing worse than having to do something you truly don't want to do. I wish you well on the decision you're facing. It's like I told my sons before they started college...4yrs from now you can be doing what you love AND getting paid for it OR you can be doing what you're doing now. Which is more appealing to you? I know at our age it's more complicated than that, but as you know, once you've earned your credentials (degree or certification) NO ONE can take it from you! You'll always be able to say in truth and pride...I DID IT!!! From all your posts I've read you seem to be a Great guy. You genuinely care about us on this site...you always give insightful and thoughtful advice (along with good humor). I know that if I needed medical care, I'd want you on the team. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I love college. One of the great things coming about due to the economic downturn is certainly more people are seeking higher education. When the economy comes back around (and it WILL) we will have higher paid, more educated professionals in the workplace. Do something that you'll love!

HOWDY....There is nothing wrong with "Y'all" LOL For those of us born and raised Texans, we kind of like it. Actually my Senior year with I was in DC on a Farm Bureau trip we thought the reason the waitor at one of the restaurants thought we were from Texas b/c of our accents, well when we asked how did he know...thinking that would be his answer, No it was "because we eat off of each others plates and shared our foods". He said that up there, they do not do that LOL!

LMFAO. I'm going to steal the "if my job were a person" thing. And post it on my whiteboard at work. Well, maybe not. But it is probably facebook or myspace worthy at least. Hahaha. And the eroding the soul part... I'm there too. So sorry I got you thinking about the future! ;) And no way. I want to do something medical-related too. Not exactly sure what yet... And Scrubs > ER. Nothing wrong w/ supa-nerds like us. And don't run. That's an order. I'm not that far from you so if you run I COULD come down to whoop ya.
