Yesterday/today was not fun. I had the worst hospital experience of my life, and I wasn't even the one injured.

I got a call at about 9:30 last night that my brother had been hurt, and he was heading to a 2nd hospital. The first one was so packed that they would have had to wait too long. I started driving for the 2nd hospital, (about 60 miles away from me) to meet my brother and his wife there. He works two jobs. His regular job is at a distribution center loading trucks, and some nights he works at a friends' restaurant. Well, he was closing up shop at the restaurant and fell. He couldn't talk and I didn't feel like asking too many questions, so I'm not sure how it happened, but whatever he tripped up on took him down fast enough that he didn't have time to react. He went down face first leading with his chin... which broke 3 of his teeth and gashed his chin. When I finally got to Presbyterian of Kaufman, he had already been waiting for about 30 minutes... without triage... and the place wasn't packed. It took them an hour to triage him, and it was four hours before he was even taken to a room. He was actively bleeding in the waiting room while people were being treated in front of him for coughs and sprains. When he finally got his turn he waited another hour before anything actually happened. I didn't get home until after 4AM. The whole experience was just f***ing ridiculous. Not the normal happy-go-lucky /0 stuff, but I just had to get that out. Moving on...


On a way more positive note, my weight has been about 200.4 for the last two days. I weighed in as 201 because I haven't been counting fractions of pounds just yet, and I didn't want it to look like I had finally git my goal when I was still a bit away. I probably will skip 200 and report 199 (finally under 200) when my weight gets to 199.9. Then of course I get to reset my goal and have even more fun. I'm off work today because I didn't feel like functioning on 2 hours or less of sleep. I'm going to use my free time to go on a run... which I normally only do on the weekend. Maybe I'll hit that 199 tomorrow. Maybe.


One final thing... Am I crazy?
I've been having delusions of grandeur lately and I'm thinking of training for a half marathon. My current weekly run is about 5 miles. I would have to run at least twice a week to prepare. One shorter run during the week and my long run on the weekend. I found a local half called the Hottest Half. It's in August... in Texas... I wonder how they got their title. LOL The only distance I've ever ran at an event is 5K. A half marathon is basically 4 5Ks in a row. God help me if I ever start thinking about full marathons.

i hope you rest before and after your run... sorry about your brother. sucks to know he would have had been treated faster if he arrived in an ambulance, i hate waiting in ERs, is he ok now??

I'm sorry to hear about your bro. That is ridiculous. ERs SUCK. Thank goodness it wasn't a more serious injury though. And holy almost batman! You're practically at goal. You suck. I'm pretty sure you've beaten me. Told you that you would, Mr. Consistency. Bah!

He's doing well right now... relatively speaking. He had part 1 of his oral surgery today. He has to wait two weeks before they can do the rest. The restaurant owners are paying for everything, thankfully. All he has to deal with for now is pain.

Starla, the 'super accurate' FatSecret guesstimator told me it would take me 2 days to hit goal. So that's how long you have to beat me. You had said before that you only lose one week a month... could it be this week? Who will win? Stay tuned for the next episode of 'As the Calorie Burns'. ‹sorry to whoever I stole that fake show title from... I can't remember who came up with it›

LOL! No, it's not this week. Next week though! Although I'm feeling kinda sick this week so maybe I'll avoid eating as much and beat you! (Not likely... I love to eat.)

I think one hard workout would push either one of us over the line. I'm just so... tired. Must... sleep.

I think you could do it if you set your mind to it. I don't think you're crazy...well, maybe a little. ;) (Everyone is normal until you get to know them)

I'm crazy enough that I bought a running "fanny pack" today on my lunch break. It is technically a hydration belt, but let's be honest... fanny pack for runners. I have to say that I'm slightly proud of it though. It's a sign I've improved my endurance.
