2ManyCurves's Journal, 20 October 2013

Wooohoooo! I usually wait until Monday to weigh in, but I knew that tomorrow would be an early day packed with doctor appointments (for my boy's concussion follow ups)and work. I am down 5 pounds for the week even though it isn't quite a full week. I firmly believe a lot of it has to do with jogging. The last two days I have taken my oversized lab/shepherd with me to do the normal 3.5. I did this partially for safety reasons. Surely she will assist in fending off the neighbor's yard gnomes. Yesterday I purchased a harness for her. Collars don't work too well during a jog as she can slip out of it too easy and I am not crazy about the idea of choking her while we are running. Last night I probably had one of the best runs I have had since I started this journey. She really kept me going and motivated. I also bought new earbuds so that I could listen to some high energy music while we ran. It felt great. When we finished our little run, I did some ab work on my stability ball. I'm feeling stronger and leaner. I know I have a long way to go, but I am focusing more on the week to week. I was uber surprised to see such a big jump on the scale though after having seen weeks of only 1-2 pound losses. The best part is that it appears the loss was mostly fat and a little bit of water. When I weighed in, my total fat pounds were down 4.7 and my total water percentage was only slightly down. I do not know how accurate the fat/water percentage stuff is but it felt right. And, my tape measurements do continue to show lower numbers at my waste, hips and upper arms. My thighs are slightly up by about a quarter inch. However I can see a lot of muscle definition in my legs. I do not feel dehydrated and I have drank quite a bit of water. I also had about 2 cups of green tea yesterday, 2 cups of chai tea and 4 cups of plain unsweetened tea (I don't know if that stuff is orange, black or whatever tea---but I'm talking about the type of iced tea you get in the South, just unsweetened). In any event, I really feel that I am progressing and it won't be much longer until I am below 200. I am hoping to be below 200 by December 1st. That is only 10.9 pounds. I think it can be accomplished as long as I keep pushing myself running and doing my Zumba in the mornings. I'm also trying to work with free weights every other day. I am going to try to block out the stress from work through the week. I know that stuff is completely unhealthy to focus on.

Tonight is my boy's birthday party. It is a mini-party with maybe 10-12 people. I am preparing the food with my mother baking the birthday cake. I will skip the cake tonight. But the rest of the meal I have planned will be relatively healthy if eaten in moderation. I am making ground turkey tacos, homemade guacamole, queso con carne, mexican corn, spanish rice, fresh pico de gallo and refried beans. I suspect that I will avoid most of the sides or eat very small portions. My queso is off limits to me totally. And, I am ok with that. I don't really like to eat rice as the texture never appeals to me. I do have fat-free cheddar cheese, lots of fresh vegetables and 97% fat free turkey. In any event, it should be a fun little fiesta that I do not expect will stick around and haunt me forever. I am looking forward to it. And, I am looking forward to seeing what the scales show next week as well.

You are doing a great job 2MC!! I love those unexpected numbers. They really make my day!! I have to get a little nerdy to figure out my average weight loss per week, but I've been trying to keep it around 2 pounds a week. I like the slow loss. It gives my body a chance to adjust to the loss. Good to hear you are keeping hydrated. I have to work on that!! I don't drink enough water. Keep up the great work and good on you taking your sweet pup with you on your jogs!! She will benefit greatly from that, and I bet she loves it!! "Im running with my momma"!!! Have a great day, and Happy Birthday to your son!! =^.^=
