((WARNING! Long and rambling post ahead. Use caution!))
So, I'm magically back down to my low weight. Maybe this time I should pass on the chocolate cake! LOL

I'm at kind of a weird place with my weight loss. Confession: I've got to this weight before... a few times, but then I get cocky about all the weight I've lost and start bad habits again. I started those bad habits two weeks ago.

Amazingly, I also stopped 'em. How 'bout that? It's amazing what you can do when you just pay attention.

Here's another weird thing... I'm not on a diet anymore. Well, not a REAL diet. I've been thinking about what I can manage for a looooong time. Like... forever. I came up with this rough draft that I've been following for the past week.

Breakfast - 2x fruit, dairy (low fat)
Snack - homemade protein bar (oats, whey, PB, stevia & cinnamon)
Lunch - beans, 1x veggie, 1x fruit
Snack - 2x nuts or seeds
Dinner - 2x veggies, dairy (low fat)
MISC - 3x green tea with lemon & honey, vegetarian specific multivitamin, flax

To keep from getting bored I would just switch up the type of fruit/veggie/bean/etc. I was eating that day so I wasn't eating the same thing all the time. I also track the calories (roughly 1800 to 2000 at the moment). With the exception of the protein bar it's all whole foods, so I think it's good, but I'd like some feedback from anyone that reads this for ideas/changes/etc. So, if you do... thank you in advance.

I need to get back into a strength routine. I've been focusing on my running so much because I want to run road races (5ks for now) that I've been ignoring my other workouts. Speaking of running, thanks to the folks that gave me a few words of encouragement yesterday. The race isn't until tomorrow morning, but I already have the butterflies floating around in my stomach. It's a weird feeling. It's not like I'm competing against the other runners. I'm too slow right now to even compete with the fast guys/gals. I do this to compete with myself. That's something you may not know about if you haven't done something crazy like this. When you're doing a road race, you're fighting your mind the entire time. It's this weird back and forth battle between your mind and your spirit. One second you feel like quitting... it hurts too much... I can't breathe... I'm weak. The next second you're determined, fixated on the goal and nothing will stop you from what you KNOW you can achieve. I'll report back to you guys and tell you how it went.

So, to end this rambling mess of a journal, let's get back to the point... RANDOMNESS!

randomness1) Things are more like they are now than they ever were before.

randomness2) The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

randomness3) A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory.

randomness4) The shortest distance between two points is under construction.

randomness5) You know it time to start working out again when you think... if God really wanted me to touch my toes each morning, He would have put them somewhere around my knees.

We HAVE been doing the same thing! Got sick... Got off track... Got back ON track... Change in diet... AH! Freaky! Are you diet-stalking me or am I diet-stalking you?! Anyway, good job on snapping out of the bad habits again and coming up with something reasonable to stick with for life. I think what you have sounds really good! Are you vegetarian?

If you're running a 5K this weekend then you are either a super-mega-stalker or we're twins. Although I must say that a lot of folks on this site have fairly similar experiences. Hmmm... I guess that's why people find this site in the first place.

Do I know about mind games! pfffft! Tell your quitter side to get lost 'cause you're gonna rock that race! All I can recommend as far as the food is concerned is maybe an extra protein shake for a snack on the days you do more exercise. I can't remember if you say you eat eggs, but if you do, I would add that in. If not, then just the extra protein shake. :) Also I have been reading that vegetables like lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and daikon radish have as much protein as carbs if not more. Lentils are probably the best ever legume too, so find lots of good lentil recipes. I have one if you want it. Great job getting un-stuck.

I do eat eggs, but I hate the taste. I'll eat baked goods and other stuff with eggs in it... even breakfast burritos (eggs, cheese, beans, potatoes), but I can't eat eggs on their own. My protein bar actually has too much protein in it right now (like... 50+ grams), so I'm thinking it might be a good idea to halve the whey in the bar and have the serving at another time (at dinner or post-workout).

I do the same thing for some reason. Everytime I get down to say 180 or 175 I get all excited and eat eat eat. But this time I stopped it too. I always seem to sabotage myself. You're very aware that this is what you do and now so am I. I think awareness is key!!! I'm proud of you...make the rest magically disappear!!!!
