Day 4 of Fat Fast! I feel like a million bucks now and when I woke up! But I cheated with a big country-style rib last night. I wouldnt have cheated if I went into work..but I asked off and watched American Idol..so I ate with my man...

So....I got my protein!!! I probably would have lost another pound if I had stayed on track...but I guess Id rather feel good than ready to keel over..so Im not feeling guily with my cheat from last night.

TOday, however, I started the day with my coffee/coconut oil concoction. When I finish my expeller pressed organic refined coconut oil, Im going to the whole foods co-op and get the expensive stuff.

I dont think this needs mentioning, but for all you out there than dont know, I like to try new mini-diets..and either when they work or I get sick or tired on them, I go back to low-carb. I get impatient. I didnt do Induction for months and stalled.. I simply wanted to try this Fat Fast for curiosity's sake. Atkins warns in DANDR that this diet isnt meant for me, but for the those that dont lose on Induction/dont cheat during Induction.

Its important to say, however..for the metabolically-resistant and people who simply dont choose to follow Atkin's DANDR warning(like me):

1) Do a standard low carb diet until you stop losing weight for several months.

2) IF you want to lose more, try a near-zero carb diet, until you stop losing weight for several months.

3) IF you still want to lose more, time to cut down the portions.

IF you want to lose wt. the fastest way possible, skip steps 1 and 2!

The above steps taken from:

Also, there is a great little study out there Ive read..
got to find it...
128.2 lb Lost so far: 1.2 lb.    Still to go: 3.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 1.4 lb a week

Early in the 1950s, two British researchers did a study to compare the impact of 3 different 1,000 calorie diets on obese people. One group ate 90% carb calories, one 90% protein, and one 90% fat calories. (This study is described in detail in DANDR.) The 90% protein group lost .6 pounds average per day. The fat group lost .9 pounds average per day. And the carb group, on average, gained a little! (On just 1,000 calories! No wonder the lowfat diet is such a failure.) On top of that, the 90% fat dieters' loss was mostly body fat, in fact losing body fat even faster than people who fasted. The 90% fat diet has come to be called the fat fast. (I suspect the term came about as a result of "protein-sparing fast," where a person fasted except for eating protein (intended to prevent the loss of the body's protein/muscle tissue). And yet, on a fat fast, consuming healthy dietary fat accelerates the loss of body fat. Anyway, the researchers discovered that the 90% fat diet worked at higher daily calories also -- up to 2,600 calories per day. By all means, read DANDR on this topic -- it's fascinating! One of the problems with eating a 90% fat diet in America today, though, is getting healthy fats. Cream cheese for example -- one of the yummier high-fat low-carb foods, IMO -- usually has unhealthy chemical additives. The body sees these chemicals as toxins and retains water to deal with it. So if you try the fat fast, be sure to plan carefully. Hope that helps. This, I found here: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/main-lowcarb-lobby/541825-can-someone-explain-fat-fast.html

WOOT! Eat fat to lose fat! You're always full of interesting tidbits. Is that one of the studies Taubes talks about in GCBC? BTW, I don't know why but links don't work in comments.

Yeah...Im a believer now. Im always a skeptic..but apparently the quickest way to lose fat next to not eating is to eat ONLY FAT. Stillman's Quick Weight Loss is probably better than Atkins at losing weight, but the Fat Fast is still quicker. Thats why Im considering cycling with it with induction.

This is so interesting. And I'm really interested in hearing about how you are feeling! Congrats on getting so far!
