Divided By Zero's Journal, 13 May 2010

I think the scale read 197.8 this morning. I'm not really sure because I didn't get as much sleep as I needed, and by the time I had finished my workout and eaten I had completely forgotten the original #. I remember 197 at least... I think.

ANNOUNCEMENT: /0 is running a 5K this weekend.

You know, 'cause... why the hell not? I really haven't been doing 5K training (I've been focusing more on weights recently), but I have enough cardio fitness to finish (hopefully with a decent time).

Operation: Stop Being a Lazy Blob is going fairly well. I've managed to get to the gym every single weekday morning for almost two weeks, and on at least one weekend day. The whole "Spike/cheat day" thing has reduced my cravings to 0. My girlfriend offered to get me ice cream last night, and I didn't even want it. If I ever do see something "bad" I want, I buy it and store it until the cheat day. Then if I still want it, I eat it, but if I don't... oh well.

I hid a lot of things in the last journal by using white text. Just like I'm doing now.

NOT SAFE FOR WORK... but awesome if you like the same crazy music I do.

Good luck in the 5k this weekend! I'm sure you will do great! I thought you were a marathon runner and you're worried about a silly little 5k?! LOL Your Five Finger Death Punch video is funny because I've never heard of them before except from my boyfriend. I still haven't listened to their music though.

@Tressatnt: Thank you! Longer distances are almost easier because you're running slower. A 5K is almost a sprint for 3 miles. I don't ever do speedwork, so I'm ready to pass out by the time I hit the finish line. LOL I love 5FDP, even more so since my girlfriend took me to one of their concerts.

Divided, what was your best time on a 5k? Just wondering!

I completely agree about longer distances being easier. It is so hard to go as fast as you can possibly keep up for 3.1 miles but no faster! I am sure you'll do great this weekend--glad you're taking the plunge.

@Steadytejay: I'm not a very speedy runner. Most of my training is at 11 min/miles. I think my fastest 5K was around 27:30, but I'd have to find my race bib (I write my finishing time on the back) to be certain. For all I know my brain might be swelling my ability and I really ran a 29:59. :P I know I've gone under 30 minutes at least twice though.

GREAT! I know you will do awesome, my friend!

@ /0 yes I mostly agree about long distances too, although that half marathon just about did me in! Last night I did speedwork and I had to run 2 miles in 8:38 each, my god! I was sprinting them! I almost died! I am not looking forward to doing that again! I think my first 5k this summer will be mid June. Can't wait! Let us know how you do!
