chesgreen's Journal, 30 June 2017

I have never failed at anything. Yes this is a true statement.

All that happened was that I just got unplanned results with what I was attempting. This is difference between winners and losers. A winner goes out there, tries something, and when they don't get the results they want, they make the necessary adjustments and they get back at it and they either get it the next time around or they keep tweaking their actions until they get their desired results. A loser, tries, fails and instead of adjusting, they either complain, blames others or makes excuses. That's it! There is a cause and effect for everything.

I attempted a 5 day fast and I threw in the hat 97 hours and 8 minutes in, exactly 1 hr and 8 minutes after hitting the 4 day mark. The strange thing was that I made this decision to end my fast NOT because I was soooo hungry that If I didn't eat, I would die. Pay close attention to the next statement. YOU GET WHAT YOU FOCUS ON. I was so obsessed with how I would break my fast on the 5 day that I spent most of the 4th day planning and preparing that by the time I got home, I decided to eat. I focused on food all day and this ultimately was the downfall to my Fast. I went into Chinatown earlier in the day to get mugs to make oopsie cup bread that low carbers have. I went back later that day to a supermarket to get coconut flower the Oopsie bread. I printed the recipes. Got home put the flour on shelf, bowls in the sink, recipes in the recipe box. I figure, I spent 12 hours thinking about food and that's all it took to drive me in the direction of ultimately breaking the Fast. Seriously, my stomach wasn't grumbling or anything. I was quite active during the 4 days averaging over 15,100 steps per day. My energy levels were through the roof by the 3 day with over 22 thousand steps by the end of the day. I didn't fail with this Fast, I just got an unplanned result.

Where do I go from here? I've got all the resources now at home to make the oopsie bread and freeze them so If I plan on breaking an extended Fast with a sandwich, I will have it handy. Speaking of extended fast, I created a 4 Day "You can do it" Fasting Challenge starting in 9 days so anyone looking to experience the therapeutic power of a extended Fast, come join me.

1 year, 5 months, 29 days ago, I weighed 260 lbs. Today I weigh 213 (probably less because of the mini carb feast I had last night which will cause some water retention.) I am proud of where I am and where I am going. I was wearing slacks that were size 42 and now size 36 pants very loose on me. I will succeed. I will not quit. My HUGE gut of last year now looks like a 4 month pregnant woman if I were to draw comparisons. This belly will turn into a tight stomach with slightly noticeable abs by the end of the year. It is my destiny.

To our success,
Ches

Hi Nanette61, I think you missed the point. This particular journal entry wasn't to elicit the advice or an opinion of others, it is my journal entry sharing what I've done so I could refer back to it in the future to see where I was at that moment in my WOE journey. Have you read The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting? I have in it's entirety as well as listen to the audio book in its entirety. Have you read my bio? I am succeeding and I am sharing my journey. Fasting whether you believe in it or not has existed for thousands of years and is not going away anytime soon. It is a lost art.

Thanks, Ches! While you were away, I finally reached my ultimate goal! I'm up and down a bit in maintenance now, but I'm living life and sticking around here. Happy you're back! Be careful on the bike this summer!

Sorry to hear you got distracted. I went out to do my monthly grocery shopping today. Will give my weigh-in tomorrow morning on my 5 day fast and whether I will end it or press on. Not suffering from hunger or anything but my wife keeps insisting that I eat something. LOL Woke me up at 6:30 this morning and made me take her to Denny's. I carried my liquid stevia with me and ordered a cup of coffee and asked the waitress to bring me some butter. She must have thought I'd lost my mind. I sat and drank coffee while my wife ate and kept offering me bite, which I turned down. Stay strong my friend.

WTG KP. I'll stick around too after getting to maintenance. Norma, you only fail when you quit or keep doing the things that are not giving you the results you don't want. Let's do this!

I love your post...your depth of thinking is something all of us need to do. As you stated so eloquently we fail and complain...rather than look at why our plan went amiss. I admire your grit to put it all out there. You are so right, you didn't fail. I firmly believe that what we focus on directs our path in all of life. Thanks for your testimony. And I am considering the 4 day challenge...after all I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me....

Good to see you are not failing. I'm not failing too, just figuring out the next tactic. Correndo!
