BuffyBear's Journal, 06 December 2011

I wonder if DH is thinking about losing (he is 30 - 40 lbs overweight). Last night I asked him if he wanted a baked potato with dinner. In answer - he asked me what I was eating, and I told him - Salmon and a Salad. So he says, then that is what I'll have - Salmon and a Salad.

I know better than to say anything to him because that decision can only be his to make, but maybe I should be more perceptive in listening for clues?

Buffy, that is awesome...my hubby joined me after I had been on Atkins for about 6 months. He has done very well, and we both enjoy eating low carb. I have gone back to induction levels, but he is still at the primal level! I agree, just let him come around on his own. If you push too hard, he'll bolt!!! lol Have a great day!

Stef - thanks for your encouragement. Nice to hear you have your Hubby eating healthy. We usually eat the same things anyway, but I cook him some rice, etc. to go with whatever I'm having.

You never know...it's certainly easier on meal-planning if you're both on the same WOE PLUS it gets temptations out of the house for you. Now that you know it's a possibility, I'm sure you'll have your ears tuned in for more clues.

I will be glad when my husband starts to join me...it would be a lot easier fixing the right foods..Good luck with that...Did you find you a camera yet???..have a great evening....☺

Buffy, you are so smart to let him make his own choices! That's exactly how it worked at my house...I lost like 20 pounds or so, & all of the sudden they were paying attention & asking questions. Pretty soon it dawned on them, they were eating low carb for supper anyway, (well pretty much anyway), so the discussions about breakfast & lunch were next. I like to think I led by example, & now they follow & sometimes even lead. All together we make an awesome showing of the benefits to low carb living!

Sandy - Fortunately, my Hubby isn't fussy so we eat the same food anyway - I just add a starch side dish to his plate. So tonight we had a broccoli and Swiss cheese casserole and pork patties. He never once asked about potatoes, etc. We'll see.

Bren - You have a difficult situation - cooking 2 different meals every night - no wonder you don't like to cook. And, yes, I ordered a camera off Amazon - think it will OK.

GG - That is the beauty of low carb food - no one realizes they are on a diet!

Buffy, that's great if your DH wants to eat healthy with you. Mine has also eaten healthier, and of course he has lost more weight that myself, but that's ok because he feels good and clothes fit better !

Buffy - it's so great that he is joining you, even if he doesn't say it out loud.

That's great that he sees how much low carb benefits you and that he is now making that choice for himself.

Perhaps he is worried he is not going to be able to keep up with the new streamline Buffy!

Hiya Buffster! I think your hubby might realize you are cooking extra for him and you aren't eating it yourself and he feels a bit sheepish about it? Is that possible? In the past, my hubby has told me just to fix him whatever I am eating. He is such a sweetie sometimes and then a real horse's patootie other times. LOL!
