Well crud! My cholesterol jumped from 149 to 269 in the 2 months since I quit taking the statins. Since it is so far over 200 I guess I will go back on them at least for awhile. Maybe after I am down another 25 lbs I'll try again. A1C was 5.4 so that was good news anyway. Liver ultrasound was "unremarkable" with no mention of the fatty liver that showed a year ago, so that was good too. Tomorrow begins a whole new month, another chance for a fresh start!

I also take statins, and I was thinking of stopping .I still have alot to lose,so maybe I shouldn't. I have been told eating raw garlic daily really helps in lowering cholesterol.😰

The 269 or 300 or 150 numbers are irrelevant, they mean absolutely nothing. What is your Triglycerides #, as that is the ONLY number that matters. Cholesterol is a scam, forced upon us by big pharma...sounds like conspiracy theory, but when you root through and actually look at all the facts, it comes down to nothing buy making money at our expense. Why would a perfectly functioning organism (body) naturally produce something that will harm itself (cholesterol). It doesn't...you need cholesterol. Women over 50 with high cholesterol live longer than women with low cholesterol. 7.2 year study of 350,000 men with high cholesterol....taking the top 5%, the worst of the worst and put them on statins...the result. 7 men. That's it....statins helped 7 men. Statins kill mitochondria in your cells. Before jumping back on statins, do so reading. Zoe Harcombe, Chris Kresser, books like "The Great Cholesterol Con".

I've cut back on my statin dosage and my LDL has gone up to 101. Would like to stop taking it completely but with heart disease and stents I'm concerned about that, so I understand the dilema. Have you figured your cholesterol ratio (total cholesterol divided by HDL cholesterol)? That's thought to be a better indicator of risk than just total or LDL numbers. 3.5 or below is considered optimal.

with stents already in-place @jmb3450, you are the prime candidate for someone that should consider taking statins...

"Unremarkable" may not sound the same as "Way to go" Those Dr.s sure know how to take the feel good right out of a good report! Hmmmm what do you think about what Majohn shared? your doing well!

Google statins (good and bad). Also google Marie Emmerich (spelling?)/cholesterol. I found it helpful.
