Oi... finding an agent is such hard work. TOTALLY WORTH IT THOUGH.

Okay, Normally, I dont even like to talk about this... but FS buddies, I feel like you are the only people in the world who will understand me when I talk about my novel because its about a fat girl.

Right now, I feel like a fat underdog.

Havent we all felt like that at one time in our lives?!

Here I am at Barnes and Noble in a sea of Young adult novels that are about either glitzy glorified vampires, cutesy teenage zombies, prep-school undercover spy girls, drug addicts, high school cliques about queen bees and wanna-be's, backstabbing best friends, beach-babe blondes on spring break, or date rape. This is whats in. This is what is selling?
I found about five books that have similar elements to mine. They were all published in the early 2000's, when I was around 15 or so. I wish I had known about them back then when I really needed them.
I have to say I loved them, but I seriously wonder how they got the spot light when their books are about overweight girls.
I feel like the agents that I have queried so far have been prejudice of my main character because she's fat. Ugh. Maybe I am paranoid and my queries just really really suck. :P

School is going fine. I'm excited about working toward a future career. But every time I vision the possibility of writing for a living, I get a nervous/excited feeling. I love it and I really, really want it. I know I could do it. I just need one chance.

Does any one know anyone in the publishing industry? lol I'm not asking for a "hook up" or some kind of special privilege. Advice would be helpful though!

No one has even requested a partial of my manuscript and I am wondering if my query is getting my novel's strongest points across.
Oiii! So frustrating.

We have all felt like the underdog at one time or another.I understand the frustration but just remember that no one wanted to publish Harry Potter either! LOL You just need to find the right person. It may take time and perhaps during your college studies one of your professors will help you in this endeavor? They sometimes have more insight into these things and experience as well. Another suggestion is to find "fat acceptance" groups who may have a handle on this kind of publishing. They might have a publisher or agent among them! :) Glad your studies are going well-you will thrive because you have the drive to do so. :))
