Breakfast this morning, Egg n spinach Frittata topped with avocado, cheese and Everything Bagel Seasoning, so yummy! Over the past few years I have stopped having breakfast, lunch and only ate dinner. This contributed to over eating at one meal right before bed. So starting anew, I am eating both breakfast and lunch on my eating days, dinner is a given, but I am going to make sure it can be consumed before 7 pm and if not, dinner will be skipped.

Nice self reflection & evaluation! For me, I have found that if I have breakfast I want to eat & snack all day. Maybe I will be able to switch it up later when I get a better handle on things.

I'm coasting on the post fast lack of hunger yesterday and today, this is my second 72 hour fast in two weeks, my weight whooshes back up the next morning after my refeed (water), so far it looks like I am dropping about 3 lbs per week, I messed up and did not do a post feeding weight this week, but next week we will have two weigh-ins one for the fast, one for the refeed. My first week I went from 297 to 288 fasting, then bounced up to 290 after refeed. This is a switch up for me also, I was doing ADF and it simply was not doing anything for my weight loss or my swelling legs issue, so, I took all three fasting days and did them back to back, much better!

That's an awesome loss! I love that you are paying attention & making adjustments!

Thanks for posting about 72 hour fasting. I've been doing OMD - eating sardines to get me back off a stall. I know I should do a 72 hour fast, but I've been reluctant. I used to do a lot of longer fasts, but I've been avoiding it recently. You are doing awesome Debra. And you are encouraging me!

Hey Erika! Good to see you on here still also, I was going through my people I followed and most of them have not posted since 2018! I'm glad our conversation may have inspired you because I expect you to return the favor in the future. I have had to abandon OMAD completely, I suppose my body has adapted to it. For a while I kept to OMAD and simply cut down the number of calories I ate daily, down to 1,000, crazy thing is, suddenly I was cold all the time and more sluggish than ever, my metabolism bottomed out, my dogs ate more calories in a day than I did and I gained weight so I have punched my RDI up to 2200, going to try to eat Keto and keep my carbs below 20% and fast 72 hours per week to try to get my metabolism to reset and get rid of this inflammation I have going on. Doc says I am perfectly healthy according to my bloodwork, she supports fasting and LCHF/Keto so she is in the background cheering me on. I'm still not diabetic, nor pre-diabetic, last A1C was 5.5 (Feb 2023) I might catch flak for doing 72's weekly but so I read, if you have substantial body fat, it won't harm you.

Does that mean literally zero food for 72 hours???

That is what that means. You work up to it and get used to it. i did a 21 day fast two years ago. It was surprisingly doable.

Omg i salute you. I do not have the fortitude …

Crazy as it sounds, it gets easier as you do it, I actually love the empty feeling I have during fasting and the 72 is the one that really reduces the swelling in my legs, and the swelling does not come back in the water flux that happens during refeeds, I have had ankles and can see the veins in the top of my since my first 72. I wear compression socks daily when I am standing at work, but prior to the 72 hour fast I could not get them on the swelling was so bad. My resting heart rate has decreased from 76 to 62 also since my first 72 this month. Over all, more energy, less hunger and cravings. I'm not saying they will all be this successful, it's a switch up, I may have to switch again if this stops working, but I finally got over the I can't hump, so I am flexible.

I track my daily weights on a simple app called Fasting Hours Tracker. I use the post fast comment box to note what my refeed was. You can edit the comment box easily, and I am now using it to track BMs as well. Here, I use the diet log, journal, and post all weights lower than the previous loss. Fluctuations make for a messy graph and are really only tracking water and digestive contents. Nice to see you back and Hi to Erika 🙂

I eat twice a day.

Hey Lady D, good to see you too! I use zero for my fasts for several years and I can log my weight there too, I just don't because it seems like every radio button I hit tries to get me to buy an expensive monthly subscription, I can see where it would make everything go up and down here. I'll check out fasting tracker and see if I like it better than Zero. Thanks for the info

It's in the Google Play Store and it's free with ads. The ads are minimal, and after using the app two weeks, I paid the one time $1.99 to stop the ads. This site also lists your weights and associated journals. Glad it works for you.

MorticiaAddams - I opted for two meals a day for a couple of days after my first 72 hour fast and discovered that I could not get enough food into two meals to reach my 2200 calorie feeding goal without feeling uncomfortably full on my fast-shrunken stomach, so I switched it to three. 2200 RDI for 4 days equals 8800 per week, which translates to an average of 1257 per day, I believe that may perk up my metabolism. Seems to be working so far, I don't feel cold in a 73 degree room anymore, At the end of May I was freezing and reaching for a blanket at 73
