Fallacy: Losing weight will bring us happiness.

MooMe made an excellent point last Sunday - There is no guarantee that losing weight will make us happy. Perhaps that is why some of us have failed to reach our weight goals. We somehow expect that fitting into smaller jeans is going to make everything right with the world. When this doesn't happen we give up.

We need to continue on in our search for finding satisfaction in life. This must go hand in hand with reaching any of our goals.

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success." Herman Cain

I agree in that if your only goal is to lose weight because you think that alone will make you happy then that's not going to work. I've decided to lose weight for my health. Of course looking better will be great but I'm thinking of that more as a bonus nowadays. Plus I'll be more comfortable in my clothes;)

While being thin might not make me happy, being fat sure isn't working either! In the past when I gave up and just started eating junk again, it didn't make me happier, just fatter. I've only lost 20 pounds so far this time, and while I can fit into smaller jeans, I'm not ready to give up even though I seem to have hit another weight plateau. I notice my stamina is much better with the weight gone. That makes me happy. I eagerly await the time when I can report out on whether or not reaching my goal weight makes me happy! ;-{)
