Day 2 of black coffee. Was told that if I can make it 2 weeks this will be a habit for life. Am counting down the days.

Don't get me wrong - this will be totally worth it. With the elimination of half & half I have so much more room in my "plan" for other things. Last night I had a nice bowl of (semi frozen) wild blueberries. I savored each spoonful.

Life is good!

You're on your way, Buffy! Hoping dairy free is as good for you as its been for me! And, thanks for the reminder of how good life is… and how easily I take it for granted! xoxox

You might be on to something. I don't a lot of dairy but it does add up. Saying this... last night I got into Micky's ice cream. Had a bummer night ... was tired ... heard hubby might be laid off during Christmas... I got up late in the night hungry and went for it.

It's all that lovely fat in the dairy that adds those calories up & make it so darn tasty too. Still, seems so unfair that one little one ounce slice of cheese has 100 (or more) calories. I tried the unsweetned almond milk on my berries with a sprinkle of sweetner, wasn't too bad.

I truly like black coffee. Once in a while I use 1/2/1/2 for a treat. I'm on Day 3 of decaf green tea. :) I'm still sneaking in too many sweets. Can't get a handle on it. :(

Heather - Thanks - this time I truly hope so! BTW - still got lots of blueberries left. This could be habit forming.

Bren - Good thing blueberries are good for us since they are my absolute favorite. When I was younger I used to climb a (small) mountain to pick them

GG - So glad you found a substitute you could live with! BTW - hope you are feeling much better today.

Neptune - I feel so badly for you. Could you eat some extra protein until you get the sweets under control?

Not to derail anything, but have you considered almond milk in your coffee? I drink almond milk, and read recently about people adding it to their hot tea. Not a coffee drinker myself, so not sure if it would be good or nasty.

Wayne - the almond milk does not have that creamy "mouth feel" that cream has. But it makes one hell of a smoothie!

Mom - Sorry, I missed your comment earlier today. Can't tell you how many times I've gone for DH's lunch snacks. Hope all works out with your Hubby's work. Or will you and J.C. Penney's have a reunion?

Yeah, my GF dropped dairy milk back in August and uses nothing but almond milk for her smoothies now! :)

Wayne - and I guess it is supposed to be so much healthier for you too.

Buffy I gave Penneys a weeks notice when I left but in order to go back to work for them at a later date.... you have to give a two weeks notice. So no... Penneys isn't in the future. LOL!
