Yeah!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!
For me, that means date-night with my wonderful hubby!! I love hanging out with him! He is my best friend of all time!! Tonight, it’s my turn to choose our date activity, so I want to window shop the antique stores and then the farmers market in Old Town Clovis tonight! And once the sun goes down, I want to stop by the hardware stores to look at tile styles for our bathroom counter-top, AND then go to the movies! I want to see Batman…but I MIGHT see Mama Mia AGAIN!! I LOVE that musical!!! Adorable!!

God Bless my daughter Leesah! She said she wouldn't mind taking her not-so-little brother back-to-school clothes shopping for me! She's helping me out so that I won't fall behind at work!! Bless her heart! I've decided that I'll make it up to her by taking her out to lunch next week sometime! She loves hang-outs like that, and the last 2 times I have had to turn her down because of work! :(

I AM A LITTLE WORRIED THOUGH! I've set some ground rules to this shopping trip! I’d say I’m pretty liberal when it comes to agreeing with Mitchell’s choice in clothes, except the skinny pants! He wants to look like a rockstar, being in a band and all…but hubby has a FIT when he wears those pants! To be honest, I agree with hubby on that! First off, the pants hang so low that half of the boxers stick out, and secondly, they hug the thigh and calves all the way down, and literally look feminine! THAT is what bugs my hubby, I think! Does that mean we’re finally beginning to show our age, OR that we’re taking a stand for what we believe in?? I struggle with this because I don’t want to squelch his independence or shut down his views or tastes, etc. But come on!! You know?? Parenting…WHO SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE EASY???

Diet Front
On the diet front, things are awesome right now! I was hella worried that there would be some repercussions from taking a regimen of prescribed steroids. THAT is one medicine that is dangerous to the body, and sooo scary that I almost refused to take them!!! The doctor also prescribed me a dose of preventative medicine!! She told me that #1 it can cause you to gain weight, so I had to be careful and mindful; and #2 since it kills the good bacteria in the intestines, I needed to eat a flora-inducing yogurt cup (Activia) every single morning. So, I DO NOT COUNT that yogurt toward my daily carb total! Medicine should be carb free, right?!! Shhhhhh!! Don’t mention this to Mary Beth or 08! I’m sure they’ll make me count the carbs since we’re in a heated challenge!! LOL But, I'm at the tail-end of those steroids, I'm just about finished with taking them, forever hopefully!! Although it was just a month of having to take them, I'm still sooo relieved that there is NO side effects! Thank the Lord!

So back to my original point; Yesterday, I went over the allotted 20 grams of carbs because on the walk home from work, I ate a peach off the tree! It’s hard not to!! They’re so ripe and ready AND you can smell them a block away in this radiating heat! So kill me!! :)

Otherwise, I keep watching myself go up and down on the scale with the same 1 pound, which is perfectly fine by me! I feel really good at this weight and I’m just happy that I am maintaining and not GAINING!!

Anybody seen Mama Mia yet? What's the hold-up??

i would like to be with you on the mommamia thing , however -i'm not reall a 'musical'. I DID enjoy the sound of music- the '50s version of west side story, and CANNIBAL THE MUSICAL. I suppose south park should be on there- how ever i will classifly those under 'animated musical' and 'marionette' movie. I totally get where you are coming from with the pants deal. I have noticed them first on skaters like 8 yrs ago- and was wondering why they would restrict their movements? and the whole underwear hanging out the pants is RETARDED! I don't know which is better- underwear or a$$ crack,(at work i call it a pencil holder) Its hard to tell if we are showing our age or if its an intolerance to overt sloppiness, intentional disarray, boldly obvious socital rejection to hiding baggy under garments wilst wearing tight trousers!?! yep, i think thats it.

Oh the skinny jeans rocker look, yes, my son does that! We hate it for the same reasons you all do! I figure I'd give into those since I see SO many other guys wearing them too because I like those better than a extra loose hanging below your crotch with chains and buckles all over the place. We pick our battles huh? I hear ya though, really. In fact THANKFULLY my son has developed a new sense of what we call "normal guy jeans". woo hooo! you have a FANTASTIC date night, you make it sound so fun I WANT TO GO WITH YOU TOO! lol You're awesome, what a great woman you are and what a wonderful family you have. Have a beautiful weekend!

I don't think it's age, it's maturity. Kids these days are just trying to fit it so if he's a good kid...I say let him be. Your date night sounds very nice. I was thinking of a movie tonight too. I've been wanting to see Batman and no, I'm not interested in Mamma Mia, sorry. I couldn't even get into Chicago years ago. I don't know why because I love music and I even like to sing but for some reason I don't like when people spontaneously break into song during a movie. I've always loved Grease though!

Wow, sounds like a busy night! I've seen Mama Mia and thought it was great! My mom, sister, 3 aunts and cousin and I went to see it a couple weeks ago and the touring show came to Charleston a year or two ago and my mom, sister, grandma and I went to that. Doesn't it just make you want to sing?

Sarah went to see Mama Mia with her girls last Wednesday and has raved about it since.... Andee I LOVE your tradition of having dates with your hubby... it makes your love for each other sound so alive and vibrant. In relation to the pants, I hope that he might be able to see how liberal you normally are with his choice in clothes ... and give a lil now to on this particular style. I know that Conor at 14 (nearly 15) is really good at weighing things up and working our what is in his best interests in the long run... a temporary victory of getting some garment or incurring the wrath of his Ma and Da *s*. He sounds like a cool Lad Andee and I'm sure that you will be able to sort it out. Threathen him with multiple cinema trips to watch Mama Mia!!!!!

I hope your date night was lots of fun! Very nice that you both make that special time for each other. I can't imagine passing by a ripe peach just hanging there taunting me with it's delicious aroma! Who could! Mmmm. I haven't seen Mamma Mia yet. Guess I need to get it in gear!
