Just heard an ancient Thai saying. "Sweet turn to disease. Bitter is medicine"

It is a fruit paradise here, and I have noticed near 100% of the people are aware of the bad health effect from sweet. "Not sweet" is considered a compliment to a fruit.

Right. That's certainly how my health went downhill. I used to frequent the bakeries!

Erikahollister As an overweight kid, the bakery's smell was my favorite. Loved it, and hated my fat self. Not good. Replacing self hate with self love is surely a worthwhile thing. I'm content with labelling myself as a recovering carboholic. Both sweet and savory refined carbs is 'fatal' for self love. Exploring ways to enjoy food without quick carbs is a task worth while. It is a wonderful upgrade in life quality. Glad we walk the same track to better days ahead.

Yeah, I used to keep a huge fruit bowl in the house and eat them all day long, thinking it was healthy and not understanding why I just got fatter and fatter. Yes, I agree with the wonderful upgrade of a low carb life.

We're all different! I don't gain weight with fruits and I love them. However I have cut out daily added sugar and I'm glad that I have. Fruits do not make me crave deserts of any kind. They are a good source of many essential nutrients. I looked into it at one point and all places that I found say that fruit is fine for a normal person. They say not to drink fruit juice.

I am highly sensitive to carbs. Perhaps I wrecked my metabolism, or maybe it's genetic. Like Diddlee said I'm a recovering carboholic.
