Day 2 of a planned 2 day OMAD 'One Meal A Day'
Blood sugar 90 mg/dL
👎🏾 Did I keep my net carbs below 10? No
👍🏾 Did I keep my protein below 90g? Yes!
👎🏾 Is my morning blood sugar in the 70s? No
The problem is the Zucchini!
🌟 Basically, a cup of Zucchini is only 20 calories! Great, right? But, it is-4-frickin-carbs! That is more than an entire scoop of my protein powder (that I love!). A serving of the low carb Quest Pizza is only 6 net carbs!
🌟 I have always cared about carbs rather than calories, but the Zucchini finally forced the issue. So, I spent 2 hours, and did a detailed analysis of my September 2018 numbers here:
https://bit.ly/2IuswWw (FatSecret will not easily give you your food numbers next to your weight number, you have to do this manually!)
🌟 Anyway, the conclusion, for me (*IMPORTANT: Another person could eat the exact same thing and get a different result*), the carbs matter not the calories.
However, we got a fancy Zucchini spiralizer weeks ago and hadn’t used it yet. So I knew that I was still gonna eat the Zucchini and take the carb hit.
📅 Knowing this, I reworked my food for the day in the Fat Secret calendar and brought my carbs down on all the other food. Had I not done the detailed analysis, I would have told myself “Oh the Zucchini is not bad, it is only 20 calories!”.
Screw that, Zucchini is the devil 😈
But oh man spiralized Zucchini sautéd in butter is the greatest tasting thing in the world!
😎 Of course I went on a 'carb binge' and had to have a "Quest Oatmeal Raisin Protein Cookie", and then a "Just the Cheese Grilled Cheese Crunchy Baked Cheese" before bed. Yes, I lost a pound, but I had weighed myself mid-day, after my morning run, and I was actually down 3lbs for the day at that point.
🏋🏾 Oh well, off to the gym today...
Have a great day everyone!
