How I dropped 4 pounds in one day
I did a little experiment yesterday. I am glad it didn't kill me, but I learned a lot.
Yesterday I drank only water during the day. I am reading the Dr. Fung book "The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss" - https://amzn.to/2sAbluO and that has got me to cut way back on Splenda® because it still causes Insulin production and that is what causes fat.
I walked during my lunch hour and felt fine all day. After I drove home in one hour traffic I felt REALLY tired. I was so tired I wanted to go take a nap. I did a blood test with my glucometer and the reading was 59! (normal fasting levels are 70-90). I believe that my body finally burned through all its ready to use glycogen stores and was crashing my metabolism to reach Homeostasis (https://bit.ly/2JkoByp).
When it comes to feeling tired while fasting I always recommend vigorous exercise. However, I have never been this tired. I know I needed to lift weights or run. I was scared I would kill myself lifting weights while this tired so I decided to run. I weighed myself before the run and I was 187 (lost a pound since I weighed that morning!).
I only told myself I would put on my running clothes and shoes. This took 1/2 hours I was that tired! I started to slowly jog and I could barely move. I told myself I would hit the first mile and turn back if I truly couldn't do it. Along the way I thought to myself that I still have 20+ pounds of fat. My body could burn it using the process of Gluconeogenesis (https://bit.ly/2sAOcIO) This literally means "New Glucose", but this is a harder process for the body.
Anyway during the first mile I found some energy, not a lot, but enough to complete the 5 mile, 1 hour run. When I got back home I took a reading and I was 65. Still low, but it showed my body will find glucose when it needs to.
I weighed and I was down to 185. This was surprising because I did not think I still had water weight to lose. While my run burned a lot of calories, there is no way I could have burned 2 pounds of fat!
Anyway, I drank a cup of Miso soup and went to bed. When I woke up my glucometer reading was 84 (totally normal) and my weight dropped another pound to 184.
