Finally get to record a loss! The ketogenic healthstyle is so different from any other WOE. It took 19 days of weighing myself every day to finally see a downward change on the scale, although people were telling me they could see changes in my body. I was advised while starting out on the ketogenic WOE to expect a big drop in weight quickly, then a period of little to no weight loss, then back to losing weight at a relatively consistent rate (some minor plateaus, but with a downward trend on my graph). The person I listened to said she weighs herself everyday, but only "claims" (records) her losses - unless she gains more than a couple of pounds and it doesn't go right back down to her low within a few days. And Dr. Westman says it isn't a "stall" unless you haven't lost weight or lost inches in a month of staying on-plan. So I guess it wasn't truly a stall...just 19 loooong days of staying on-plan without seeing any results on the scale!
Even though I didn't lose any weight for 19 days I never really considered going off the ketogenic WOE. I feel so much better! No crazy sugar highs and lows, no feeling hangry, no obsessing about food all the time, and I either don't really miss the foods I can't have or I can make or find versions that work or me. I don't really have a specific goal weight in mind. But don't get me wrong, I DO want to lose weight...I just want my metabolism to settle in to a weight I can sustain for the rest of my life without doing anything too crazy.
Just hoping the scales will continue to reflect my new healthstyle in the coming days!
