Somebody Else's Journal, 18 June 2016

I must admit, I've done quite well. Occasional jogging, walking, resistance workouts, but it's amazing the impact cooking almost all of my meals has been. I have avoided meat. I've enjoyed many meals that have only vegetables. I've had a few macaroni cheese meals, which of course aren't all that healthy, but do provide plenty of carbs, and I feel I'm burning calories just making that damn sauce. hah I'm quite pleased.

I'm a bit stronger, have grown some muscle, but not much in the grand scheme of things. I don't think I'll ever be "big"... I dunno... I struggle to get perspective. Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and think I look pretty decent, other times I think I look kinda weak. I judge myself harshly. x_x

When I weighed myself last and got roughly 13 stone (182lbs) as per what my mechanical scales show me, it was not "dry weight", so I may well weigh a lil less. Either way, cooking once or twice a day and eating mainly vegetables has been a massive help.

I often sauté and boil vegetables. Sometimes I'll add potatoes. A favorite of mine is a broccoli curry with some chopped up celery. I've turned into a pretty decent cook. I hope to get better, though.

Oh, I was drinking a lot of Diet Coke, again (left that stuff alone for years, until recently) however I've once again waved goodbye to it because I found something healthier and tastier: shandy. xD Seems cheaper too. It has no aspartame in it and from the looks of it, no sugar aside from "sweetener".

I would love to get back into counting calories, but honestly, this experience has showed me that it's not necessary. However, the fact that I used to, probably helps my understanding of how much I eat, so perhaps that's why.

I've become pretty hooked on oats, even adding syrup! Am I bothered? Not really. Just gives me some energy. A lil sugar isn't a bad thing, as far as I'm concerned. Oats have fiber and protein in them so I'm happy with them as a breakfast. I've somewhat made (British) flapjacks a couple of times so that has been fun. Just, oats... so filling, tasty, and healthy! Strongly recommend.

Awesome job! Perspective is always a struggle for most when it comes to change. I use photos instead of the mirror. It seems a little more seeable that way.
