had a conversation with a trainer about my stall at weight loss. told him about my diet and activity . over the last month my calorie intake is about 950/day . his suggestion was i may actually need more calories as i may be shutting down my metabolism . i know that i am getting enough protein . (1gm/kg) my recent labs show that sodium and potassium are on the mark. with the high fat low carb diet i feel satisfied most all of the time. guess i'm going the think about fat bombs. anybody have input???

What helped me break a stall is Intermittent fasting, which lowers insulin levels and facilitates fat burning for energy and discourages fat storage.

Kathleen, a couple of good suggestions I have found helpful here are, add an avocado or two to you day, it adds lots of healthy plant based fat, fiber, vitamins and minerals. It also is very filling and can be eaten in a variety of ways. The others are add a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil to you day via a cup of hot tea or coffee. Adding butter to your veggies and meats, lots of great sauces you can make incorporating butter, heavy whipping cream and a variety of herbs and spices. The fat bombs....my goto website ketodietblog.com has pulled their fatbomb recipes and incorporated them into an e-book which is for sale so they are no longer offered free on the site :(

One of the other things you might be able to do is carb cycling, I did it on an impulse a week or two ago, I thought I had blown my diet scarfing down 4 huge slices of pepperoni pizza. I stopped it there, didn't eat for the rest of day, I did not go over my daily maximum calories which are right at 1466 per day. However, I normally keep myself below 20 net carbs per day and this kicked me up to 140 for the day. I had a three pound loss that week. Read up on it, there's lots of info out there...if you think you are in a metabolic slowdown then you would have to shake yourself out of it in some manner. Do you feel sluggish and tired? Do you have the energy to make it through your daily routines and workouts? Those are some of the symptoms of metabolic slowdown

Look at what I posted on kppgreen's journal today, ties in with the good advice from debrafredrick, difference is it is one day per week of higher carbs and not cyclical several times a week.

Mahjohn, I saw that comment and I appreciate it very much, it's interesting that the subject came up in such detail on a day when I decided to try it out in a small way :)
