I’m losing about two lbs a week since cutting to 1300 calories a day. I’m not sure if my goal should be a number or something else. I wonder how much of my weight loss is fat vs muscle? If I go to the gym to lift weights am I going to gain weight?

Be careful dropping your calories too low you can only burn so much fat each day at that point you will be burning muscle for fuel. You will have to figure out what works for you though. Lifting weights will help preserve the muscle you have and if uour new to lifting you can actually put some more muscle on while cutting the fat.

Thank you guys. I plan on going back to the gym this upcoming week. I do get a lot of physical activity at work as I am a landscaper but I know I need the gym. I plan on focusing more on lifting weights until I drop more off the weight because I got hurt doing cardio last year when I weighed 265.

Lifting to sculpt and tone is invaluable! I have dropped 2 sizes and stayed within a 5# range for 5 months. Your decision to be better physically is empowering!

Slyone, that sounds awesome. I’m moving that direction here soon. I have a gym membership and I’m going as soon as this season ends. I’ma landscaper and right now we’re rushing to finish our season before it snows. I’m going to the gym all winter to lift.
Now let’s see if I actually do it.
