For anyone looking for a mindfulness strategy for dealing with the impulse to overeat, or unhelpful impulses in general, I recommend looking up "urge surfing" or "surfing the urge". I stumbled across it while looking for techniques to deal with distractions (working from home can be challenging), but it was developed in the context of addiction, and it's broadly applicable. The idea is not to fight the urge, but just to accept it, and to observe it while it crests and diminishes over time. It's really just mindfulness with a wave-riding metaphor.
