Found out his farm insurance most likely won't cover the damages. According to Oklahoma law the owner of the cow is lot liable unless you can prove that he has bad fences or his cows have a history of getting out. I think he has good fences and this is the first time I have ever saw his cows out so I am probably not getting any help with my car.

Oh my goodness, Amanda....A cow???? I have had a deer charge my van and head butt the driver's side door, back up, shake his head and walk away, but a COW??? Holy cow (no pun intended), that is CRAZY!!! Hope that the farmer decides to do the right thing and reimburse you for your car. And I am so sorry that you had to watch the poor cow suffer. That is hard...Good job on the weight loss and happy for you that the algebra is sinking in. Once it starts to click, it gets much easier!!

Yep a cow. I was driving about 50 or 55 and when I saw it I slammed on my breaks - left rubber for about 50 yards and hit it. I probably hit her at about 40 maybe? I'm not sure. My neck hurts now but I am ok and that's what matters. We can replace a car but not our lives.

It was a big cow too! A black Angus about 1000 pounds or more.

I would get the neck checked out. You could have whiplash! Were you wearing a seatbelt? And that IS one big cow!!

Yes I was wearing my seatbelt. I always wear my seatbelt. I am just so glad the kids weren't with me. If it gets to hurting worse I may have it checked out. I took two excedrin.

So sorry about your accident. Glad you are OK. That had to be
very scary. I hate you had to watch the cow die. Bless you heart,
take care of your self. And good job on the 2 lbs lost.

Wow, sorry to hear about your experience, and yes you should check out that neck, whiplash creeps up afte the fact. My daughter hit a wild pig driving home this summer, I think she only clipped it, but it scared her to death, and she was more worried about the pig than herself

I can understand that. I felt awful for the cow. As for going to the dr - no health insurance. I am just a little sore in my neck, shoulders, and lower back but it's really not bad at all. I know it could have been alot worse. I will post pics tonight of my car.

Oh Amanda, take it from me, it doesn't take much (MPH) to get injured. When we totalled our car we were originally going about 30-35 before slamming on our brakes. I am still facing daily pain and possibly looking forward to surgery to have my C-5 removed from the stem of my neck. I have yet to pay out of pocket or use my medical insurance. Your car insurance should cover it. The problem with waiting is that if there is a problem, the longer you wait, the worse it's going to get. Call your insurance company and they'll get the paperwork started for you. You've paid for it - use it. So sorry about the accident and Stef is right - Holy cow! Terrible. I'm sure it was scary as it could get. Thank goodness you are alright and it wasn't worse.
